has anyone seen this new piece from Mike Birbiglia?

When asked what it’s about, Birbiglia is reluctant to say much. “I hate it when people tell me what anything is about or really any details at all. Last year I loved Lady BirdGet Out and The Big Sick and my greatest gift to my friends was to tell them to see those movies and don’t read anything about them. So that’s what I’m telling the people interested in this show. If you liked my other shows and movies, I think you’ll love The New One.

Directed by Seth Barrish (Thank God For JokesSleepwalk With MeThe Tricky Part), Mike Birbiglia: The New One has set design by Beowulf Boritt (Sleepwalk With Me, On The Town, Act One for which he won the Tony® Award).

Also, has anyone tried for this????

"Up to 10 student rush tickets available for each performance, priced at $29 each. A valid student ID is required and tickets will go on sale 90 minutes before each performance."

I saw this at Berkeley rep. It was almost a year ago, and he's been touring with the show ever since, so I imagine it's developed a lot. But even back then, it was great! I'm a big fan of Birbigilia, and I wasn't disappointed. I've seen all his other specials on Netflix, and I also saw him do "Thank God For Jokes" at the Lynn Redgrave. If you like his work, don't miss this one!

Really loved this when I saw him in Chicago back in December. Wonder if they are trying to take the same path as Oh, Hello and bring it broadway/film it for Netflix. Would really like to see this one again.
And I remember this musical I remember their brilliance And I might never sleep again...

Have my tickets for closing weekend! Wish I would've known about student rush before but I'm glad I have peace of mind. I love Birbiglia's work and I'm excited to finally see him live. (There's also only one ticket left for the entire run if someone wants to snag it.)

Saw the show yesterday and I agree that this show needs to be seen by more people. I really hope they are able to transfer, but for now there are some newly released tickets for performances this week

Saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it. I've been a fan of his for years and this isn't my favorite work of his (I think "My Secret Public Journal" is) but this was still outright hilarious at certain times.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

An absolute scortecher in the Times https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/02/theater/mike-birbiglia-the-new-one-review.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Ftheater&action=click&contentCollection=theater®ion=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=1&pgtype=sectionfront

I was wondering how the line about dads was going to go over

That Times review is bizarre. It seems to be “this is funny but it revealed to me that Mike Birbiglia is a bad person.” Birbiglia himself has made jokes about how hard it is in stand-up to separate the art from the artist, but this feels like a personal attack.

Aren’t these real thoughts that parents have? Raising a kid is one of the hardest things — I think anyone would be lying if they haven’t thought “why did I do this?” at least once.

Also, they said he had a "teddy bear physique." Is this no worse than Umphrees review in the same paper, but because it's a man there's no outrage? I'd be super offended if that's how I was described.

that times review couldnt be more wrong, this is one of the best shows you are going to see all year, sounds like a mother of two who got offended and couldnt seperate her personal life from the show she was watching

Teddy bears are generally thought of as cute and cuddly.
