I'm organizing a musical theatre camp that has a theme every year, and I need 12-15 songs per theme. Themes done in the past have been water (think songs from Little Mermaid, Once on this Island, etc), Food (Food Glorious Food, Be Our Guest, Green Eggs and Ham, etc), and Geography (songs from Oklahoma, Chicago, An American in Paris...) and I am thinking about doing "My Favorite Things" as a theme in the future. It'd probably open with "My Favorite Things" and have songs about favorite things - one example is "Suppertime" from Snoopy (Suppertime is Snoopy's favorite!) - What other songs would you add for favorite things? Ideally they'd be songs *from musicals* where character(s) are singing about one thing (person, place, item, whatever) that they love! I'd love all thoughts!
*forgot to mention camp goes as low as second grade so nothing with terrible words/messages though if it's just a line or two we've edited songs before* thanks!
Not sure if this would be totally right for it, but "Times Like This" from "Lucky Stiff" may work. It's a song about how much the character loves her dog.
Basketball - Promises, Promises Words, Words, Words - Witches of Eastwick My Friend, the Dictionary - 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Dressing Them Up - Kiss of the Spider Woman Ireland - Legally Blonde Yellow Shoes - The Visit
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
Not sure I remember all the lyrics so it may have some foul language, but "Nine People's Favorite Thing" from [title of show] is definitely a great one!
To add to the multiple "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" songs already given:
"My Blanket and Me" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Though it's not much of a song as it is a performance that can be done as a solo, duo, or an ensemble. And it doesn't feature a lot of singing so it's great for younger kids who aren't as confident with their voices as the older ones are.
