hmmm... not sure how to feel about this
If they are creating the actors into CGI cats (like the recent THE JUNGLE BOOK and the upcoming THE LION KING) then even Ariana Grande can play Grizabella. Only their voices are what will matter as they can create an old and raggedy Grizabella.
Just did a Google search and no other media/news outlet mentions this. Only BroadwayWorld.
Don’t know how legit this news is now. VARIETY nor THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER or THE WRAP has mentioned this news and they are always the first ones to do so.
For a moment I thought this was going to be an announcement of a revival going into the Hudson after Head over Heels...

Baz Bamigboye is arguably London's most in the know theatre writer, getting exclusives all the time. You'll see this in the regular trades soon enough.

Agree about Baz B!
Btw, not surprised about Taylor Swift as a possibity for a role. If I remember right, she auditioned for the role of Eponine with Tom Hooper when LES MISERABLES was being cast.
People stand on two legs, cats don’t. I’m trying to visualize literal cats dancing around on two legs doing faux-feline balletic movement.
And if they’re just being singing cats and not dancing, then what’s the point? Besides Memory, the score doesn’t really scream out park and meow.
Don’t get me wrong, I know we’re not going for realism with this project, obviously there’s a lot of suspension of disbelief going on here. Which only makes sense, for me, to have them still be obviously human, as they are onstage.
Yea thats how i feel, without the dance its kinda pointless, and dancing cats (as cats) will just look stupid.
Wait, why is this movie happening again? Oh, right. Money.
With all due respect, that's the reason 150% of all films are made. No film studio in history ever made a film without hopes of it being colossal blockbuster hit. There will always be a money making factor to even a low-budget indie film. People want to make their investment back AND make a profit.

Exactly my thought on seeing the subject...
Yeah that is the million dollar question - or rather answer, as to the look, style, and overall visual concept. The live dancing is really the heartbeat of the show - and now a lot of stunt casting... more to the line up- and confirmation as some of you were asking for

Cats dancing on two feet is going to look stupid? I guess none of you are fans of Cats Don't Dance:

or the history of animation where animals walk, talk, sing, and dance on two feet.
