I am very very perplexed at what I just saw. However, regardless I can’t wait for the soundtrack.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

The scale makes them look more like mice.

I get the idea behind the CGI- augmented approach, but the blend of Cat and human body parts feels really off - the different skin that looked like a costume on stage now looks like an actual body, which is not comfortable.

However, the candy-coloured set designs look interesting, and seem to justify the decision to open Cats out into movie form.

The characters seem to be hit and miss. Macavity looks excellent, Jennyanydots DOESN’T...

What kind of Satanic baboonery did I just witness?

Kill it with fire before it lays eggs.

I think the trailer looks good. I like how they were able to imagine the show beyond the singular location of the stage version. The scale on the cats and the CGI hair looks off though. The actors' heads appear too small… the fur needs to be thicker and bigger.

I don't think I've ever laughed harder at a post on here. Thanks, I needed that!

A live action Cats movie was a bad idea from the start and this trailer just confirms it. I’m a fan of the show and I do not want to watch that.

Okay, I don’t know what yet to think about what I just watched - however - I will say with 100 percent honesty, I have never seen a movie that looks like this. And I got chill bumps. Talk about risky film making...

Is this how it felt hearing Lucy trill the first notes of “It’s Today” in 1974?

I kind of admire them for going all-in on the weird trippiness. Whether this is terrible or actually fun, I hope it gets on the record as one of the most "What the hell hath our culture wrought?!" moments.

There's a lot to process here but I think I actually liked the trailer? My biggest complaint was I wish Grizabella was more distressed-looking like the show, and I just really wanted her to be singing memory outside with the moon. Other than that, I'm on board.

Holy s**t! This is horrible. I couldn’t even finish it. It looks like it was done using cat SnapChat filters. This is one colosal fail on every level. Like everyone mentioned, the scale between the actors and the sets is WAY off. They look like tiny skinny lizards.

No, but it's equivalent to the the "o-pen a new win-dow" notes Frankensteined together one by one.

Jennifer Hudson is the only one who looks weird. And I don’t think she sounds good singing Memory either.

It looks horrifying and amazing and "what the?" I'm NOT a fan of the show (understatement) but I have a feeling our 6 year old is gonna really wanna see it. I'll take her out of sheer car-crash curiosity.

For posterity, I do have to be the person to point out that when CATS was preparing to launch in 1981 in London,  this is EXACTLY what everyone said and the show ended up becoming one of the biggest hits in the history of theatre.  So anything can happen here...

YIKES!! This looks like it'll win every Razzie Award possible.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

People are accepting of theatre cause there’s already a suspension of disbelief. We’re not gonna see real cats.

This is eerie eerie uncanny valley. This will bomb.
