CGI is expensive though isn't it?
Depends on what u r trying to do. The cost has come down tremendously since the early days.

There was changes seen in the last trailer though, but very minimal, so I suspect that is the extent of the changes (more whiskers, some spots, etc, bustopher jones looks like he had the most work)

Just saw the new trailer with the new song. It really doesn't make me want to see it. As mentioned above, it is a musical but it does not show anyone singing. I was humming the Jellicle song while watching it.

Using an entirely new song as the only music in a trailer of an adaptation of a well-known show that features an extremely well-known song is kind of a weird marketing move, but I guess that's how this thing has been rolling the entire time.

A soundtrack is supposed to be released, just no other info yet on when. I assume it'll be released the day of the film release; two weeks from today.

Pre-Ordering music in this day and age has no point. Nobody is looking to get a physical copy of a disc and will just listen on Spotify.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association loves musicals so much, they once nominated “Burlesque” for best picture. But “Cats,” which has been plagued by bad buzz, didn’t win over this group. The organization, which was the first to see the big-screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s stage hit, only granted the film with a single nomination: best song for Taylor Swift and Lloyd Weber’s “Beautiful Ghosts.” Not a single member of its cast — from Jennifer Hudson to Ian McKellen or Jason Derulo — was nominated.

Both social media, and review embargo is on December 18th, only two days before it opens.
Does not seem like a good sign of the studio's confidence in this movie.

Actually robbie - reading that Variety article it finally makes sense their marketing strategy. Why they picked to go up against Star Wars, why they've been somewhat limited in their interviews and releases of stuff. They know that "Cats" is a known property - so none of the music other than Beautiful Ghosts is a surprise to people... They know there's built in audiences (Cats fans, musical fans, people looking for alternatives to Star Wars... I'd also add Taylor Swift fans) that they're hoping will help Cats open respectable and begin word of mouth that will translate to viewings throughout the Christmas season when people are off and looking for things to do/see and don't want to be in the mega-crowds for some of the other offerings.

One has to wonder if the whole Jason Derulo/Instagram issue wasn't a publicity stunt. I'm sure that will probably draw in a few curiosity seekers to the film that might not have gone otherwise.

The trailers for this hasn't bothered me as much as some on here. Until, I saw a new (at least new to me) one tonight that made the film look cheap. There was a cake included and the trailer centered a lot on dancing. The actors almost seemed animated. I was going to see this on Christmas, but I may pass.

Posted: 12/12/19 at 10:12amI’ve now seen the Les Miz concert on two different days in two different movie theaters (AMC on 42nd St and Cinepolis Chelsea) and both times the Cats trailer received mocking laughter, “oh no!”s and groans. Any other anecdotal reports of what’s probably not the reception they’re looking for?

The new trailers with 'Beautiful Ghosts' are making me hesitant to see the film. I find the song to be lyrically horrendous.
