Book of Mormon staging question |
It was not a great seat at the Orpheum (deeply discounted), and if it'd been my first time, I'd probably have been annoyed and a bit confused. At the O'Neill it's just fine. At the Bank of Whatever in Chicago it was mostly fine — but again, I'd seen it a lot. Not a ton of plot points happen on the extreme sides, but you'd miss some laughs and fun visuals.
If you have the choice, sit closer to center. A lot happens in the middle of the stage, but during the Africa scenes, there's a lot of background things that occur on the sides of the stage! I wouldn't say that it wasn't worth seeing from "limited view" seats, but I would definitely recommend trying to get full view.
Also LizzieCurry is right about how some theatre's limited views are much better than others. I've seen a lot of shows from limited view just because of the discounted price and am usually not too disappointed.
One other thing, the BOM tour does a lottery before the show and it is usually not busy at all. Both times that I played in my city, there were only three people (including me and my friend) entering. That's pretty good odds when there are 20 tickets available and only three people, hahaha. The seats were also front row center and $25, so I would check that out.

There are plenty of full view seats, but they are far away from the stage. I'll be seeing this in an (egad!) 4,600 seat theater.

Are you sure that they aren't doing a day of lottery as well? I'm pretty sure that they are required to do a day of lottery for 25 as part of BOM touring.
I won both times I entered when it was in Nashville. Sunday evening exactly everyone that entered got in. Wednesday evening, they were about 5 tickets short or so, but they had $40 lottery loser tickets!
