Boys in the Band recoups |
Kudos to them!!! From what I recall, they only had one discount in the mezz during weekday perfs? I'll admit I wasn't sure if it would recoup given it wasn't eligible for this year's tony awards but really happy to read this news!

Aren't Ryan Murphy and David Stone the lead producers?
No extension happening. ;-(

Yes but Scott Rudin is listed as a producer.

Correct. But Rudin is not the "muscle" on this one --- so he doesn't get to call all of the shots. Stone and Murphy are the lead producers.
As this has recouped and still selling very well, can’t the producers get as many of the cast to extend and move the show to the Cort?

So who are the actors who could do this? Here are some out gay actors, not sure some are age appropriate but who does everyone think could replace?
Neil Patrick Harris
Jesse Tyler Ferguson
Randy Harrison
Tituss Burgess
Billy Eichner
Jonathan Groff
Mario Cantone (too old but he could be a great Harold or Donald)
Sean Hayes (again, too old)
Cheyenne Jackson
TR Knight
Adam Lambert (can he act?)
Peter Paige
Jai Rodriguez
Russell Tovey
Michael Urie
Mark Gatiss (he was in a recent West End production)
Chris Colfer
Stephen Guarino
Ben Platt
Lee Pace
Paulo Andino
Stephen Wallem
Wentworth Miller
Charlie Carver
I'm sure I'm missing some obvious ones. But what does everyone think?
PS - the above are just out gay actors. I'm not saying that any of them are appropriate for this. Just curious on thoughts here.

The missing element on nearly everyone on that list is box office draw, which is what Parsons is for this production. When he injured his foot, the box office dipped. So, only NPH and possibly Platt (testing his draw for the first time post-DEH) would qualify. JTF has the same issue as Parsons, got to get back to the sitcom.
But yeah, heard the same thing that there is no chance of an extension.
Michael Urie will be tied up with Torch Song which is coming to B'way October 9. No way he can do it.

Definitely qualifies as too busy, since they will be shooting Will and Grace then...
The box office dipped when Parsons injured his foot because of the cancelled performance. I tried the cancellation line when McGrath was on but there were 10 people in front of me and performance was sold out (ok to be fair I only showed up at the theater 30 mins before showtime).
