I had so much fun while watching this. Sad to see it go. Could this mean Moulin rouge has found its theatre?

It's had a great run and I imagine it'll successfully tour and be done in schools for a long time.

This might not be as successful as youd think. A stipulation of licencing is (or was) that the students were required to play their own instruments.  Aside from some performing arts scgools, this isnt a common thing found in most high schools. (You usually have musicians OR actors, very few ate one in the same.)

To be quite honest, I kind of forgot this was still running. Partly because the theatre is kind of out of the way compared to many of the others.

The show was a delight, those kids were insanely talented, and it put Alex Brightman on the map. I expect we'll see many more great things from him in the future.

CRAZY FOR YOU to the Winter Garden? (People on here have claimed MOULIN ROUGE is definitely going to the Hirschfeld this spring, and that it's definitely going to the Shubert next spring, so...I'll believe it when I see it.)

The show wasn’t my cup of tea, but I’m glad for everyone involved that it was a success and that it brought joy to so many. I’m sure many kids, both onstage and off, were introduced to the magic of the theatre because of this show and that’s a wonderful thing. Happy trails!

Interesting that the Winter Garden Theatre was completely gutted in 1981 for CATS, which ran 18 years (1982 to 2000).  Then it took a year to convert the theatre back to a regular proscenium theatre for MAMMA MIA!’s debut.   Now it looks like, after 18 years, the Winter Garden Theatre will once again go thru another re-gutting to accommodate MOULIN ROUGE.

Well *I* know how to spell his name, but evidently autocorrect doesn't... :) Thank you for pointing it out! (Though Brightman's performance did indeed brighten that season)

I was there recently and saw a lot of empty seats so this doesn't shock me. It has had a great run though!

Not that I saw the show or anything but 3 years seems like good of a run to me.

Oh this is sad...granted it will have run almost 2 and a half years by then but still. I saw it on a moderate whim  two years ago, and I didn't see Alex, I saw his 2nd understudy who was making his debut in the role, but I didn't expect to be so jazzed by it as I was. It's a such a blast and a jam of a show and those KIIIIDDSSSS...seeing it once was fine with me, so I can't see that I'll go back, BUT...if they brought back Alex  to close it I would totally make a return visit. Alex was so electric in it.

Three years by the time it closes is not too shabby at all, especially considering the other productions of it already up, professional and not. And it'll be nice to make some room for something new.

First thing I thought of was PThespian, too :) The show had a good solid run—not many shows get 3 years these days and it had a role on Broadway. It helped get Brightman the attention he deserved and it opened doors for a lot of kids. Good run for a show that succeeded at being fun.
