30 people, 27 of them comped and one Ken's aunt. And probably Nicki Cochrane.
Prepared for this one to most definitely get ripped to shreds (a shame, considering the talent involved - how the heck did Kelli Barrett and Marilu Henner ever agree to do this show???)
But this is a Ken Davenport production (he wrote the book, for pete's sake), which means I am very intrigued to see how he uses his crooked producing tactics to try and sell this unsellable show...
Who is the target audience for this show? That's the thing I don't understand. The descriptions I've seen on here of the book make it seem like it's a generic '80s movie, the audiences for which don't really exist in the same way anymore.

I'm going 2 days before opening. Granted, that's only because I was able to get a $40 front-row seat, but, unlike many, I prefer to see a show before I needlessly bash it. Also, as a rule, I prefer to be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed. With this show, I'm sure that expectations will play a large role in my enjoyment of it. I think it's a shame, though, when people who claim to love theatre so much are so eager to see a show fail, without even giving it a chance, no less.

That was my issue when I watched the music video - the characters seemed so 80s comedy generic. The concept itself sounded cute, but the music video didn't do a lot for me.

So you will needlessly bash the show after you see it? Good to know. I also think most of us would prefer to be pleasantly suprised than bitterly disappointed, about everything in life.
I dont think you get to be holier than thou since the only reason you're going is your $40 front row seat. That doesn't say much about your expectations, does it?
This sounds terrible, but MANY on this board WILL go see it and be open minded enough to allow it to be wonderful, if it is. Look at all the Spongebob fans as well as those that are enjoying Head Over Heels - neither of which had high regard going in.
Edited because my phone's auto correct makes my typing even worse than it is! (Thanks for calling it out CT2)

Sorry, perhaps my wording there wasn't the best, but I think my point was pretty clear. Sarcasm isn't necessary.

Again, I think my point was clear. My expectations aren't high, so when I was able to buy a cheap ticket, I did. Also, it's "holier than thou."
I may not have seen the show, but after listening to the cast recording from the original production, my interest in seeing this show was reduced significantly.
The "$40 over 40" thing is not a good sign.
Welcome back!
After nine years, you come back a week ago and start the previews thread about Gettin the Band Back Together.
Okay, yeah. I'm sure this has nothing to do with making sure BC didn't get to start the thread.

I'll be there next week, only because I got a beautifully low-priced seat. Very, very minimal expectations.
(Also, not to be a ball-buster or anything, but the show's title is Gettin', not Getting the Band Back Together... figure if we're all predicting that this show will flop so hard, we might as well get the title right!)

I believe the original title was in fact GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER... but Davenport was too cheap to pay for the extra "g"!

Love this! Thanks for the laugh.
Take this from an actual child- we are on an anonymous message board where we have no idea who anyone else is! Why start this petty drama? And you’ve been here for a few months, it just seems like you are trying to start something. Back to the topic of the thread, I think that this show is going to get lost with tourists with all the other band shows, so I’m sure Ken is hoping that they’ll buy this instead. I’m intrigued to how this show will be.
Edit: What wealth? Making new threads? Get a life!
Just to remind everyone, this board has an "ignore" feature. Just enter the offending poster's screen name, and, after that, he/she will be screaming into the void.

Gee - I thought we were suppose to be told why posts were removed. Because I was (kind of) defending BC and my posts have been removed.
So did Solipsist get super nasty to me and it was removed before I saw it?
