Hello I would like to know if I will like the upcoming national tour of Hello Dolly starring Betty Buckley. I had only seen the Barbra Streisand movie one time and plan to watch again. Is the production itself worth why it's one of the hottest tickets in New York right? I do like the music but it needs to be more than enough to lure me to the show.

No one here can really tell anyone else if they'll like something.

Seriously, how on earth would anyone here know what you will or will not like??

Given that beyond Betty Buckley, no cast has been announced, and there hasn't even been so much as a rehearsal yet, there is really no way anyone could offer any sort of opinion on the matter.

I have to watch the movie again and think about it some more.

On July 6th, in the "Betty Buckley" thread, you wrote that you hope to see her in the "Hello, Dolly" tour.  So why the dilemma now?

You'd better get ahold of a ticket now before it sells out. The show title has oodles of name recognition.

I think both the Hello, Dolly! and Dear Evan Hansen tours will have many sold out performances.

What hype are you referring to?  Aside from Betty headlining, there has been no further casting announcements.  There really hasn't been that much advertising on the tour yet - just that it's coming, along with lots of other shows that are currently touring the US.  HD will tour a lot of cities, and get packaged into to various city's subscription series.  Tours always do very well on the road.

Its 26 bucks. If you dont like it oh well. You got to see Buckley and a production of Hello Dolly. Its not like your dropping 100 or so dollars. Just go for it.

This should certainly help you finalize your decision.

“The show is a riotous delight!” – The Guardian

So if you like delightful shows, and also riots, you should enjoy it.

Yes, the least expensive ticket for HD in Costa Mesa will be $26.  Is that a bad thing?

Tickets for the current production on Broadway start at $59.

Sweetheart---it's $26. and an experience that goes for 150mins---better than sitting at home alone watching the DVD---never know who you'll meet propped up at the bar[or sit next to].

JUST GO

At the album release concert for Carousel at Barnes and Noble, Renee Fleming was introducing some ensemble members who were performing and mentioned that Jess LeProtto will be in the "Hello, Dolly!" National Tour. Perhaps he'll be Barnaby? I don't suspect he'd be in the ensemble if he's leaving a Broadway show.

Oh that definitely makes more sense.

It's not like I won't be going to more than one performance, and/or having friends working on the show, but we're anxious to know the supporting cast, etc.. One ad I saw said, "Everyone from our cast and crew at the Schubert will continue on to the national tour"! (i'm sure that will be news to maybe, Donna Murphy or Local #1 -  I.A.T.S.E .

I also want the Harmonia Gardens staircase AND the passerelle but I won't hold my breath! My record with Betty is seeing Sunset Boulevard 5 1/2 times (...don't ask)...Dolly will go her way and I'll go mine!

I'm sure both will stay. The passerelle is a vital and iconic part of Dolly. Without it, it doesn't feel like Dolly at least to me. I'm sure Rudin knows better in this case. Maybe some simplifications in the Harmonia Gardens set piece, but the stairs will absolutely be there.

I can't imagine after the Tonys debacle, there won't be a passerelle.
