Intermission Curtain
I can't wait to see this. Hoping for a lottery win, but if not I'll end up springing for something in the balcony. But goodness, this production looks so utterly sumptuous.

I read online that someone had a friend who’s in Boston seeing it tonight and said it’s amazing and even better than the movie!

My friend who lives in Boston posted at intermission saying "costumes and set are amazing, but writing and score are horrible trash" so

I wonder why they tinkered with the story. It worked well enough in the movie to be a box office success and well regarded enough to be nominated for Oscars.

Let’s not forget that the film was pretty much all style, no substance.
^Exactly, so why wouldn't the musical be the same? Like Frozen, people want to see Moulin Rouge and they will get just that

Let's also not forget that Baz Luhrmann (the director of such films as Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, Australia, and The Great Gatsby) directed the movie. He's like the Julie Taymor of filmmaking; all style, no substance. Yet he somehow gets good actors every single time who have to basically form their characters under the guidance of a wacky director who finds a way to shoehorn pop music into ALL of his movies!
Which is why I respect his work despite its flaws...

Oh, don't get me wrong! Romeo + Juliet is a visually stunning film with great performances from DiCaprio and a young Claire Danes, but... as an adaptation, it slightly suffered, even though that story needed a bit of a redo anyways. Guns and mafia bosses on "Verona Beach"? Sold!
First pic of bows. Just know they do something really cool for Christian and Satine
