I’m doing Sweeney Todd with my theatre group and would really like to be Mrs.Lovett. I’ve been listening to the cast album quite a bit and have a relatively good British accent (I just played Mary Poppins). I was thinking about doing wouldn’t it be loverley from My Fair Lady. But they said they don’t want us to do our music portion of the audition with a British accent. So I’ve been trying to find a song that embodies the character without using a British accent. I feel like if you do wouldn’t it be loverley it needs a British accent so being told that I shouldn’t use one has made me shy away from that particular song. Does anybody have any other good songs that would fit Mrs. Lovett’s personality and music style?
