Okay, so I love trashy tv, and out of boredom - and the insane heat - I started watching this show about a bunch of black actors from the "circuit" putting on a one-night performance of a new play. It's beyond awful. Like, it's taken them an entire month to just LEARN LINES. And then the writer/director makes a few minor tweaks to the script and they all flip out. Like, in the preview process on Broadway entire songs are rewritten in a day or dropped or moved. And they can't put up a one-night performance of a play in 2 months?! As an actor I'm just hate watching.
It's reality and basically written like a Tyler Perry-esque play. It's very over the top, terrible writing, but for some reason black audiences eat it up. But all the actors - who are well established - are just awful. They can't seem to memorize lines - at least that's the central drama - when they've basically be hired to live in a swanky NYC townhouse and their sole purpose is to do this show.
