I know it will not mean much to the folks here but I feel some attention must be paid.

An excellent ( at times) writer editor actor and world class annoyance. Iconoclast in every way.

(plus a blind date of mine-true dat)

RIP Harlan- u LIVED!

Just caught this. May he rest in peace. "A Boy and his Dog" is one of my favorites. I was quite surprised to learn that he was the first to adapt Jacqueline Susann's 1966 "Valley of the Dolls" for film. His version retained the novel's downbeat ending. When the studio ordered extensive re-writes without his knowledge by Dorothy Kingsley and Helen Deutsch he had his name removed from the film's credits and publicity materials.

Interview with Harlan Ellison

It's handled.

They got off light, Harlan's legally registered( with the Writer's Guild) pen name that he used when he was not happy with what was done with his work was Cordwainer Bird.  Imagine that on your big budget movin' picture screen credit! Everyone in the industry knew what it meant.
