Plus, it was a pretty definitive, iconic production. I think it'll be a while before we see Hair on Broadway again.
My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."

I 100% disagree. The Broadway revival was waxed 35+ year old musical theatre actors throwing up peace signs.
There's no way to not call the original broadway Tom O'Horgan production definitive.
The 2009 revival was brilliant and moving. The original cast was sensational. The replacements(Ace Young, Diana DeGarmo, Annaleigh Ashford, Kyle Riabko) were very lackluster and it lost all its meaning and emotion.Word-of-mouth spread quickly how bad the replacements were and it closed 4 months after the replacements took over. Why they brought the tour in for the summer of 2011 was mind boggling as it was even more lackluster.

my gut says it's too soon, but also, considering the current political climate and the fact that it is such a big anniversary, I think that the show could come back and be successful if the casting was done well.

HAIR requires a truly visionary director.
A Julie Taymor.
A Tina Landau.
A Rachel Chavkin.
Without a visionary director who has a visionary concept for HAIR, there is no need for a production of HAIR.

The last production still ran a year and three months, though the economy was also horrible and definitely impacted HAIR's sales (and a lot of other shows that should have run longer).

Didn't Les Miserables have 2 revivals in a 10 year span not long after the original closed???
