Skam - Teen Soap adapted for the stage#1

I recently stumbled upon Skam (aka Shame). It's a Norwegian teen soap that's taken off due to frank writing, a talented cast, well developed gay characters and savvy online marketing. It's being remade in other countries, including the U.S., and fan translated subtitles for the original are now online.

I mention it here because I've read it's being adapted for the stage. Is this the first time a serial television show has made this leap?

Both the Honeymooners and The Addams Family spring to mind.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
