Oh, dear god. It's a marketing gimmick, nothing permanent!

Even so it's a terrible one with all the responses saying people aren't going to go there again lol I'm really curious to see how they do financially after this.
They did change at least one store, I wonder how many they are doing lol...

If people find the need to boycott a freaking restaurant - over THIS, chances are they eat there too damn often. People really need to get over themselves.
When they first announced this, I thought the B would stand for breakfast....International House of Breakfast. The majority of people who eat here order their breakfast menu 24/7. Never did I think the B stood for burgers. I didn't know it was a marketing ploy. It's a dumb campaign either way.
It was a remarkably successful gimmick if the goal was to get people to realize IHOP had burgers.

They have always had burgers on their menu. As already mentioned, this is a new line of burgers they are introducing. Yes, we are talking about it, but a marketing campaign is only really successful if it turns into sales. I personally don't see alot of people going to IHOP and ordering a burger, unless the price is really low. Even Ruby Tuesday, which has been pushing their burgers for years, has their burgers for $5 every third Tuesday.

I legitimately thought the "b" meant "breakfast" until just now, I guess I haven't been following the headlines about the change too closely. I've only ever gotten breakfast there, but then again I am someone who would only eat breakfast food all the time if I could. If anyone here has had their burgers, how are they?
ballet_broadway_&b, I only actually eat at IHOP a couple times a year and it is always breakfast items.. If you haven't done so already, register for their emails/club and you will receive a coupon a couple times a year for a free order of pancakes. Then you can purchase your sides to go along with it.
This Forbes article may give some insight behind this campaign:

It looks like they are trying to increase their carry-out/to-go sales and I can infer that people are more likely to buy lunch/dinner items carry-out/to-go than pancakes and breakfast items. I surmise that it may be part of a re-branding so people think of the IHOP restaurants are an all-around diner that has enticing non-breakfast foods like other diners (where a big business is 24/7 breakfast but people readily order other things on the menu as well).
That awkward moment where you meant to go to the International House of Petah Tikva (IHOP), but accidentally go to the International House of Bet Hatikva (IHOB) instead.

"B" like in boring, like in barren, like in BURGERS, like in Bland. Like in basically bleak and beige and blah blah blah. That's ihob...with a b.
