No major snubs so far. Maybe Denise not winning, but Laurie deserved it as well so all is good.

Was expecting a Tina Fey win, but in all honesty both shows are pretty similar to both of their respective movies

Tina had a VEERRRYY different job than Itamar, so it was just a matter of taste.

I really thought Denise deserved it more. Laurie performed well, but after spending all day getting to know Harper, I fell in love with her.

When I am old and grey, I will still be grumbling about Marianne Elliott not winning best director.

CBS-Producers thought Tina Fey would take book for MG that's why it was included live.

Band's Visit deserved it!

There’s nothing I think that can truly be described as a snub—AiA didn’t lose to Lobby Hero, Glenda Jackson didn’t lose to Amy Schumer. This was a very predictable year and the few places it wasn’t, people have very much had the atttitude of, “Oh, I didn’t expect this, but I’m totally okay with this win.”

I personally didn't think there were any.

I got every category right apart from Lighting which I'd have given to Spongebob.

How about Norbert Leo Butz?  I thought he was a favorite to win best supporting actor.  I realize now that it was the Band's Visit's night, but I don't recall the actor who won as standing out in the show.  I thought Butz was a highlight of My Fair Lady and he is always great in everything.

Not a snub- but poor, poor Mean Girls! I can imagine how broken the cast must be right now. Has this sealed its fate of closing before 2019? Also Slater would've won but the material he was given wasn't that good.

It's still selling like hotcakes so I doubt it.

It's a brand that sells regardless.

You can be snubbed in the nomination process, but in my opinion on awards night "not winning" isn't a snub. If you were nominated you were recognized and honored.

Mean Girls is doing just fine without Tonys. The name (and Fey's) can keep it open for a while. Think of Waitress (which is based on a small indie feature, yet remains open).

Spongebob, however, could have some problems...

Mean Girls didn't need any TONY wins and the only one they could have one was for book.

I will run on the brand as it was already selling very well prior to opening on Broadway.

Everything that was lost to The Band’s Visit. It was ... fine, I guess ... but totally not understanding the fawning adoration for it.

Fey definitely will keep the show open but for how long? While Waitress had also gotten no Tony's, it was a very strong season- one that won't be duplicated for a long time. Names alone can't keep a show open forever. As for Spongebob, no matter how wonderful it is it still is it is time for it to close up shop.

I totally wasn't expecting Itamar Moses edging out Tina Fey.

And I genuinely thought Leading Actor in a Musical was either going to Ethan Slater or Joshua Henry, Tony Shaloub was so unexpected!

Besides that, genuinely so happy for Once on this Island's Best Revival Tony! I thought My Fair Lady was a shoe in

This was my exact reaction. Laurie was fantastic, and I have zero problem with her winning based on her performance. But if we’re comparing people (...which we are) putting 100 minutes of fantastic against 8 hours of transcendent, I think the trophy should’ve gone to Gough.

But honestly, OOTI winning is what I’ve been wishing and hoping for all year, so it really didn’t matter to me what else happened tonight. I’m on Cloud 9.

What does the season have to do with Waitress staying open? Mean Girls has Tina Fey's name attached, as well as being based off of an extremely popular movie. Waitress is open mainly due to Sara Bareilles's name and good word-of-mouth. Mean Girls is completely okay.

The Tonys tonight reminded me of the last Grammy awards show that I ever watched. For best recorded song of the year it offered "New York, New York" by Ol' Blue Eyes, "The Rose" by Midler, and "Sailing" by Christopher Cross. Which one of these is not like the others? Apparently unable or unwilling to choose one of the great recordings for the top, they settled on the forgettable and forgotten "Sailing." (Yeah, I know. Cross' mother is probably reading this and you heard it on the radio just a month ago.)

So tonight Broadway ignored two of its best ever and settled on the admirable, but diminutive Band's Visit.

Not a show that is going to pack in the tourists. Not a show that required mountains of hours just to design and build the sets and costumes. Not a show that requires double and triple threat lead actors and actresses to spend two and a half hours onstage, with most of the rest of the time spent changing costumes.

Which brings me back to my last Grammy experience. That many of the Tony voters could not choose either My Fair Lady or Carousel, so they chose the third choice. They picked the easier actor and actress award over the the actors' in the main music revivals who are just more talented in most cases.

I haven't missed the Grammys since I stopped watching and I don't think that I'll miss the Tonys.

Your mileage may differ.

Since when are awards based in the amount of preparation? They are about results. Just because they sweat more, or changed more has nothing to do with excellence. Do you want to award the runner that sweats or the one that wins?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
