Radcliffe, Jones & Cannavale Will Return to Broadway This Fall in THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT |

I am attracted to this entire cast, both because of personal reasons and their talents. This is exciting!

Yet another production at studio 54 that roundabout is renting out the theatre for. 3rd this year alone, Latin history and children of a lesser god. Are they that hard up on money that they aren't producing their own shows? How does this work for their subscribers?

Well, you’d imagine Kiss Me, Kate is going in there in the spring, so perhaps they figured this would be a good way to fill the theater in the interim if the other shows in their season are better suited to their other spaces.
Very excited for this, by the way!

Unless the rumors of Beautiful closing to make way for it are true.

They were supposed to open Here Lies Love at Studio 54 last season but Roundabout has no creative leadership and they dropped the ball.

Err, they don't pay for shows that aren't part of their programming, so they get to see every show they did pay for already?

I don't think "hard up" is the right term. They are not rolling in dough, which means they have to manage their resources. They have one theatre that has been devoted to a commercial production for a long time that is coming back on line for an RTC production, and they have announced a full season for subscribers minus one show TBA. I don't think using all of the Broadway houses for their own productions was ever the plan, unless it was a commercial extension of a show they produced. I have major issues with RTC but I think you have your hands on a premise that does not hold up to scrutiny.

I thought I remember someone here saying they got tickets for children of a lesser god through their subscription even though that wasn't supposed to be through them either.
Not a big deal, just was curious. I'm looking forward to the show and hope they do an online today tix rush like the last few shows at this theatre have been doing.

Don't forget that Studio 54 was also rented out for Sweat last year.

I was really excited about this show and definitely intend to see it. Imagine my disappointment at discovering that it is playing at the theatre that I probably hate the most on all of Broadway. With this cast, they couldnt get a better theatre? Wait, Come From Away has locked the old Plymouth theatre for the indefinite future, (mental block I am sure, but I can never remember which theatre is the Schoenfeld and which is the Jacobs); Evan Hansen has locked in the Music box for the indefinite future, Mormon has locked up the Eugene O'Neill for the indefinite future; and etc. Why can't they just build a few more musical-oriented theaters, given the excessive long-runs that have become so common. I am probably wrong, but I can't help thinking 'if you build it, they will come' might not apply here.

Yes, let's build more theatres in the Theater District because there's SO much room. While I do agree that Studio 54 definitely isn't the most enlightening house in the Theater District, it's clear that, like you were trying to imply, there aren't enough theatres open for some of these plays. I'm still trying to figure out why nothing has snatched up the Lyceum for the fall, but what I do know? Broadway real estate at its finest; famous quotes from Field of Dreams will not change that.

Telecharge is working but the prices are ridiculous. $169 for Orchestra and Front Mezzanine. $129 for rear mezzanine. And that's without fees.

Did you try again? I had no issues about an hour after you posted this, plenty of available seats at that point, at least for the date I was looking at.

JBC, I totally hear you on orchestra ticket price, but to me (and maybe you, smidge?) the notion of spending $129 for the rear mezz at Studio 54 is appalling. Those are probably the least comfortable seats on Broadway (rivaled by the balcony of the New Amsterdam), and you feel a mile away from the stage despite the relatively small size/seating capacity. If they were in the Booth or the Golden, I'd say it is what it is, but that price point for those seats is...yikes.

Yeah the links they had were going to the wrong thing. I finally figured it out, grabbed the seats I wanted for the night I was looking for

Even though the combination of the three may prove to sell out, Daniel Radcliffe didn't sell out Cripple of Inishmaan and there were plenty of discounts available. And outside of a few exceptions (Three Tall Women), straight plays haven't been selling out lately. Even Denzel Washington didn't sell out Iceman Cometh, whereas four years ago you couldn't get a ticket at all to Raisin in the Sun."
Also, this is only the AmEx/Audience Rewards presale- general onsale is Friday, so hopefully there will be more tickets/better prices available

These are all names to us, but I don't think these 3 in a no-name play will be a "hot ticket" on the onset. If the reviews are strong, then maybe, but I remember easily getting rush tickets to Equus and Mother****er With the Hat.
