Rough week all around. Hoping that Carousel, Spongebob, and Once On This Island pick up some wins on Sunday and help boost the box office. Beautiful, Kinky Boots, Bronx Tale, and School of Rock need to close up soon.
Yikes! Now if that's how MARGARITAVILLE will do for the rest of June, I'm surprised Buffet and Co. are willing to go to July 1. Maybe they should be closing this Sunday instead.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

G&D funny that you say that... when I attend Grand Hotel-Encores, I overheard that Kate will take the Sondheim as Beautiful is closing at the end of the year.
"Anything you do, let it it come from you--then it will be new."
Sunday in the Park with George
Hm, would rather see that in Studio 54. I guess Anything Goes was in the Sondheim, so it won't necessarily affect the production. I wonder why they aren't going with Studio 54?
After seeing Katharine McPhee in Waitress, I think that she may be able to bring something special to Carole King, she is a bigger star than Melissa Benoist, but I don't think she could save the sinking show..
Yeah, Beautiful is done. Tyler Glenn is doing nothing for Kinky Boots. Bronx Tale has hung on longer than anyone expected. I'm expecting a bunch of theaters to be available for the Spring.

I think it really is time for Beautiful and Kinky to wrap up.
I could see Kinky being canned by Labor Day if it continues to plummet and stay low. They could use the last half of the summer to bring back Stark and Billy (who will likely have a bit more notoriety from the “Pose” series) for the last few weeks for a farewell.

The CAROUSEL dip could also be related to Meuller’s absence. The line for refunds/exchanges was pretty long on Sunday.
I hope the rumors of KISS ME KATE being in the Sondheim are true.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Interesting that Harry Potter is reporting 100% of theater capacity. I had friends that saw it this Sunday and they mentioned they saw at least 8 empty scattered seats in the orchestra... that remained empty for both parts...
Yes, it could have been someone that got tickets and never showed up, or scalpers couldn’t unload them... but I still find it kind of curious...

There's nothing really curious about it. The seats were, like you said, most likely purchased by people (or scalpers) that didn't show up. The don't check attendance by who showed up at the door, they check it by the sale of tickets.
