It’s time for Beautiful to wrap it up.

Edit: And Kinky Boots and Bronx Tale, too.

Rough week all around. Hoping that Carousel, Spongebob, and Once On This Island pick up some wins on Sunday and help boost the box office. Beautiful, Kinky Boots, Bronx Tale, and School of Rock need to close up soon.

Yikes! Now if that's how MARGARITAVILLE will do for the rest of June, I'm surprised Buffet and Co. are willing to go to July 1. Maybe they should be closing this Sunday instead.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Maybe the producers of Escape to Maragritaville are planning to perform on the Tonys to hopefully build some last minute publicity.

Lowest week for Bernadette yet!!

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

We could have several open theatres come spring, if not before.

Continually surprised by SUMMER, though I still see it as having a run like Motown-high grosses during its first tourist season but then petering out.

Is this a reflection of Memorial Day kicking off the week? Is this holiday week usually slow?

Rumor is that Beautiful is wrapping up by the end of the year and that Kiss Me Kate is moving into the Sondheim.

Is that a real rumor or is that another "Jessica Vosk is in fact playing Jenna after Katharine McPhee!"

G&D funny that you say that... when I attend Grand Hotel-Encores, I overheard that Kate will take the Sondheim as Beautiful is closing at the end of the year.

Hm, would rather see that in Studio 54. I guess Anything Goes was in the Sondheim, so it won't necessarily affect the production. I wonder why they aren't going with Studio 54?

That rumor is spreading all over town. Based on Beautiful's recent numbers and it's desperate attempt to bring in a "star," I think it's true.

I think Bronx Tale and Kinky Boots might be departing soon as well.

After seeing Katharine McPhee in Waitress, I think that she may be able to bring something special to Carole King, she is a bigger star than Melissa Benoist, but I don't think she could save the sinking show..

What if Beautiful would do the Vegas route? No doubt it would slay in regional houses as it's a fairly easy show to produce.

Yeah, Beautiful is done. Tyler Glenn is doing nothing for Kinky Boots. Bronx Tale has hung on longer than anyone expected. I'm expecting a bunch of theaters to be available for the Spring.

Do you guys think one of the reasons for the decline this past week is due to all the comps given to Tony voters?

Also, has the Bronx Tale recouped its initial investment yet?

I think it really is time for Beautiful and Kinky to wrap up.

I could see Kinky being canned by Labor Day if it continues to plummet and stay low. They could use the last half of the summer to bring back Stark and Billy (who will likely have a bit more notoriety from the “Pose” series) for the last few weeks for a farewell.

The CAROUSEL dip could also be related to Meuller’s absence. The line for refunds/exchanges was pretty long on Sunday.

I hope the rumors of KISS ME KATE being in the Sondheim are true.

Interesting that Harry Potter is reporting 100% of theater capacity. I had friends that saw it this Sunday and they mentioned they saw at least 8 empty scattered seats in the orchestra... that remained empty for both parts...

Yes, it could have been someone that got tickets and never showed up, or scalpers couldn’t unload them... but I still find it kind of curious...

There's nothing really curious about it. The seats were, like you said, most likely purchased by people (or scalpers) that didn't show up. The don't check attendance by who showed up at the door, they check it by the sale of tickets.

No one seemed to care on Sunday that Mueller was out- the house was full and the show started on time at 1:32pm...

How was Jessie's understudy?  Do you know who she was? Someone already in the show?
