Carousel - Act II Replacement

I saw the Carousel revival tonight. (First time seeing a production, and first time being exposed to the work.)

The entire cast was in and sounded fabulous. Renee Fleming opened the second act with her scene, but for "You'll Never Walk Alone" was gone and a character with some lines here and there sung the ballad. I thought it was odd that a random character sung such a high profile song. During curtain call, Jessie Mueller paused to say something along the lines of, "As you noticed, Renee Fleming couldn't finish the show. Give it up for Rosena M. Hill Jackson. LIVE THEATRE!"

Had I been familiar with the show and production, I would have noticed. However, Rosena M Hill Jackson was fabulous!

Anybody at the show tonight? Was Renee back in? Hope she is okay.

Was there 5/30 matinee..she was there for all her songs.  Started main tee at 1pm And early evening performance.  Maybe she had an appt.in the evening.

I saw the show last night (6/1), and Renée was in top form and sounding and looking absolutely beautiful. She seemed to be well at the stage-door afterwards as well, so maybe it was some kind of sudden, non-health emergency that meant she had to duck out after "This Was A Real Nice Clambake." She certainly seemed cheerful, so I hope it was nothing serious!

Jessie is out today. Very bummed as she was most of the reason we purchased tickets.

Bummer! She was in last night when I saw it and sounded great, but I usually can’t tell when people are sick. They’re such professionals.

I’m assuming you could get a refund or another date if you are interested, which you’re probably aware.

Unfortunately in from out of town! Had we gotten to the theatre sooner we would have tried to catch something else.

I'm also from out of town and really worry about missing certain performers, unnecessarily of course.

I also bought tickets to Carousel with the intention to see Joshua Henry, Jessie Mueller, and Lindsay Mendez. My family saw Carousel yesterday 6/2 matinee, and Mendez was out (but back in the evening for my show).

How were the understudies?  I think the same lady is understudying both Carrie and Julie? So did she do one role one day and the other the next?  That is amazing!
