FROZEN cast performs on GMA |

I read all the preview reviews on here about how bad the show is, but I got to admit, this gave me chills. No ice castle though so can't say I'll buy a ticket. The performances look great though."
Occasionally, keyboard warriors are wrong/misleading/intentionally nasty.
Well I haven't seen the show but I honestly can't figure out how disney screwed up the non existent ice castle. I just....ugh.
The set flows nicely though! Plus the ensemble seems great.
I watched that performance this morning. Murin looks almost 20 years too old. Seeing this almost middle-age looking woman playing a teenage Anna was weird as p*uck.
I still feel like this is something I have to see live, because I don't think it was done justice by TV. I also noticed quite a few lyrics changes in the stage version that threw me off as I tried to sing along.
I thought it was pretty great, but I wish there were more Caissie. I think Patti is fine and showed the necessary spunk of Anna, and I do think her role is the more difficult and demanding one... but damn Caissie's voice. She elevates any material she's given.

Check out "The View" tomorrow.
I might be in the minority, but I wasn't all that thrilled? Patti seemed to be playing to the back of the house, and nothing about it was exciting in the least. I'm puzzled, because I actually quite like the movie, but if this clip is indicative of the stage version, I feel like I'd be bored to tears.

I don't agree with you there, but keep in mind this is a television camera recorded version of a stage show number. The emoting, movement, gestures, etc., are being translated in a different medium than they are meant to be seen (a great argument against bootlegs, too, but that's not the time or place...is it?).
Honestly the thing that bothers me the most abut this is the lighting- it's too effing dark! Where's the color and light finally being let into the palace? The colors of all the costumes get totally washed out by all the blue lighting, and I don't get any excitement when the ensemble enters because nothing looks different! It's just more people in the same dimly lit castle that I can barely see because their faces are half in shadow. I know this could be chalked up to poor translation for TV, but come on- it's not hard to film a stage show for the screen and have it look decent. I hope this is just a fluke or an outlier, but if this is indicative of the general lighting for the rest of the show (not the special effect lighting) then I kind of understand why this didn't get any technical Tony nods. I hope I'm wrong, as I haven't seen the show, but the overall look is pretty disappointing.

One of the biggest of my many problems with this production. It's like they decided to do Frozen with a big, dark vignette feature around the whole thing. Frozen should be light, bright, breezy, fresh, and beautiful. I will never understand why they made this entire show so visually dark and dimly lit.
I really just don’t think I could sit through it. Patti leaves me cold <<edited by BWW staff for personal attack and threat of violence.>>

I agree. I see where they were trying to go with the gothic-esque blue hues, but blue is just not a good colour on anyone. It makes them look sickly at times. It also washes out the gorgeous colouring of the costumes, which just amalgamates the issue.

If you look at Grandage's past, this all makes sense. This is what he does. Dark and moody. I don't think he was the director for this.

Murin's voice in this is insufferable. I'm also really not into the "adorkable" thing.
Does anyone else hear how she's really struggling at the top of her range? She sounded better here though then when I saw the show. She actually cracked and her voice stopped phonating when I saw Frozen.
I loved when Sven and Christoph entered, but yea, its dark.
I watched this with my kids thinking it would be eh, but I thought it was really cute and charming and makes me more inclined to get us tickets if it tours.

So....what was the original video posted by the OP supposed to be? Apparently that account has been suspended MERP...as for FTiF on GMA, I can't say I'm impressed. It's like this odd mix of dark, moody theming and cheesy overacting :/ I was willing to give Patti the benefit of the doubt, but for me, it comes off as someone who's trying too hard/trying to be quirky rather than someone who IS quirky and can just do her thing with the role. Or at least someone who could have nailed this at a younger age but has seemingly outgrown it so it reads as such.
