This talented Tony winner deserves to be back on Broadway. He was wonderful in Once and  I enjoyed his work on the song he recorded for Twilight, A thousand years.

The way that some people seem to relish that he is not continuing with Pretty Women is horrible so I wanted to counterbalance that sentiment.

I just feel bad for guy. I've never been a big fan of ONCE but I remember thinking his tony acceptance speech was one of the best speeches I've heard at the tonys. I saw Pretty Women in chicago and I thought he was good in the role. He seems a better fit for it than Andy. I don't think the book is very good and I hope they edit it for Bway.

I was lucky enough to get a Standing Room ticket for Once on my first official vacation to NYC in 2012. The OBC was still in the show. He and the rest of the cast were phenomenal. I cried through most of the show. Lol

I agree that Steve should be appreciated and  hopefully we will see him on the boards again sometime soon!  Meanwhile, it's no surprise to me that he's the kind of guy who would indeed bow out of a show to go help his aging father deal with a very traumatic situation back home in Kentucky.  Steve was terrific in SHAMELESS on Showtime, BTW, and also his show at 54Below was wonderful!  Super-talented, gorgeous and charismatic guy - he'll be back! :)

I think the way he was spoken about in the Andy Karl thread was pretty disgusting as well. Sure be excited for Karl and whatever, but many of the other posts were needlessly cruel especially considering what he was going through. I first heard his voice when he did 110 in the Shade with Audra Macdonald and been sold on him ever since. His Tony Award acceptance speech is one of the best acceptance speeches ever. Absolutely genuine and humble as he praised his co-stars and focused on them. He really is a unique talent and I hope he doesn’t stay away too long and finds a project that actually knows what to do with him. The fact that Pretty Woman got rid of all of Jason Danieley’s songs just shows this creative team doesn’t know what it’s  doing and casting Karl seems to be a band-aid.

How many did he have? Its a supporting role...that plays a foil and is pretty two dimensional (I'm talking about the film, anyway).

But they didn't get rid of the actor's songs, but the character's songs.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I missed Steve in Once by only a few days.  I was so disappointed.  His Oscar speech was straight from him heart (the best ones) and his openness with his fans regarding his injury was really appreciated, since a lot of people were wondering what was going on.  I hope he returns to Broadway someday.  I'll be waiting.

Gettin’ the Band Back Together is Broadway Nickelback.
