'Meet the Plastics' vs 'Balaga'

Does anyone else hear the stark similarities between Gretchen's part and Balaga? I feel like it should break some copyright rule... But I'm not an expert.

Now that you mention it.........I do hear it, not sure if it’s worthy of a copyright claim but I definitely hear the similarities.

Haha, I remember seeing a tweet that pointed it out! I notice it as well but I think it’s different enough to worry about copyright claims.

Similar, but hard from a copy. Really just the first two lines Gretchen sings.

The rhythm in the beginning is very similar, and the general pacing and energy of it is too, but the melody is entirely different, and the similarities dissolve as it goes on. Not even close to copyright infringement IMO, especially when you look at some of the other examples of "similarities" found between musicals.

oh yeahhhhh. not til you pointed it out tho. but i def hear it now. but like @JBroadway said, it def breaks apart as it goes on.
