As of right now with what's confirmed for the season, Tootsie seems the favorite for Best Musical.

Yeah I agree. I’d be very surprised if BMC won. I feel like Tootsie will beat them. I’m not sure how it compares to other shows but I feel it has a good chance of the tony this year. It’ll at least get Santino a high chance win. Does anyone know how The Prom will stand? I know they had invited dress yesterday and first preview today. Also how’s the featured actor race is this year. I feel featured actress is pretty competitive.

The only nominations I see be more chill getting is Best musical, a nomination for George Salzer, and lighting design. A few months ago they would have been getting all of the awards etc, but with Tootsie and Beetlejuice having pretty good word of mouth, just like the prom, I doubt be more chill will be around come tony time.

Corbin Bleu, Michael Salazar, Brooks Ashmanskas or Chris Sieber, Beetlejuice & Ain't Too Proud might have a few? And if COMPANY and HADESTOWN move, "Jamie" and Patrick Page will be eligible.

Maybe CT2NYC was referring to the 2021 Tony’s.  In which, I agree.  Not sure if it’ll still be around for that one.

American Pyscho and Tuck everlasting opened in April and still couldnt make it to the tonys.

A show's longevity is generally based on ticket sales. Be More Chill's sales are already strong. American Psycho's and Tuck Everlasting's were not.

I think Patrick Page would be a lead along with Amber Gray.  If Girl From The North Country comes in I think Todd Almond could get a nomination.

Don't forget Keri Russell/Adam Driver for Burn This. They may not have huge theatre followings but if it's a good production they could very much make it in. Joan Allen (whom I'm assuming, will be going featured for Waverly) won the Tony for Russell's part, so it's already a part of Tony history. And Russell has some fairly good industry goodwill from The Americans. Same for Driver, he seems to be very respected.

I should point out that Joan Allen won the award in a very bad season for female performances.  Malkovich, who wasn't even nominated, was clearly the lead, but in a more competitive category.  Also -- and I admit thatI loved his performance -- his performance was very controversial, since he made a conscious decision to play it over the top, so much so that Joan occasionally disappeared into the scenery.  IT is also worth noting that the prior season she LOST the Tony for her wonderful performance in The Heidi Chronicles, which was not dated when it first appeared;so IMO the Burn This Tony was also a consolation prize.

My money is still on Jarrod Spector for featured actor - he truly is sensation in the Cher show.  Unless they've made some serious retooling, he gets time with all three Chers.   The two featured actors from Tootsie should also be recognized.

With the buzz Ain’t Too Proud is getting, I wouldn’t count on Tootsie as a lock.

Aint too proud recieved mixed to negative reviews, and half of the people seeing it dont like it. Its going to be a flop

It has been breaking box office records left and right and word of mouth has been crazy good, what are you guys talking about? Reviews were ok, they can easily change by Broadway. Laugh all you want, but Ain’t Too Proud is coming in strong.

The prom has a better chance at getting nominated than Ain’t Too Proud.

Ephraigm Sykes in Ain’t Too Proud. Can’t see someone reaching the highs and lows Sykes is able to access in his tour de force. 

He’s a well-liked guy onstage and off. His performance is sensational. He’s been a secret weapon in ensembles for years. I count myself among the many who’ll be rooting for him.
