The funniest part is how they’re comparing Tootsie, one of the most acclaimed comedies in cinema history, to a show only known by the tweenage stan community of 2018.
I think King Kong may end up with nominations in the technical categories. I have no idea about anything else.
The Lion Roars said: "Santino (who nobody even knows) wont beat out George."
Santino: Prince Hans in Frozen and maybe the sequel.

Yes, the unknown always invites the luxury of one being able to invent how amazing it is... until reality has a chance to intervene.
Just curious why George Salazar is such the sure bet? Just because he has *the* song in the show? Of the featured roles/performances, I was most impressed with Jason Tam. I also thought Gerard Canonico was really amazing, and The Suip Song was just as much of a show-stopper as Michael in the Bathroom (at least the night I saw it). I like listening to Michael in the Bathroom, but when I watched it live, it seemed to drag and go on a minute too long (same with a couple of other songs in the show).
Nothing against George- I think he's very talented. I just found other roles/performances more engaging.

The Lion Roars said: "Plus you had to explain to me what tootsie was."
That speaks more about yourself than anything.
The Lion Roars said: "Geroge is well liked and he is amazing. No one has even seen Santinos performance. So Geroge is a guarenteed. Plus you had to explain to me what tootsie was."
You do know how time works? Like, before they nominate people for Tony Awards, Santino and Tootsie will exist and people will have seen his performance?
Also, Tootsie is a biopic about the lady who invented the Tootsie Roll, surely you've heard of that before? She is pretty famous.
@haterobics and @Broadwayconcierge
Pay no attention to the troll behind the curtain.
And even if I'm wrong about it being a troll, pointing out all the ludicrous things that Lion Roars said is not worth anyone's time.

Also, Haterobics, I'm predicting Tootsie as the frontrunner right now based upon positive word of mouth about the workshop as well as the team attached. If nothing else decides to slip in, I see it being the big new musical this year. I'm not even sure it will be "amazing," but I'm pretty sure it'll be better than all the other shows we've got. Do you see Be More Chill, Head over Heels, Getting the Band Back Together, Pretty Woman, or King Kong providing any real competition, specifically in the writing categories?

Isn't Girl From The North Country pretty much expected to transfer, too?

Totally forgot about that.

I was just looking over the upcoming season, and it looks like the Leading/Play categories are shaping up to be very interesting.
Glenda Jackson vs. Janet McTeer vs. Anette Bening, plus Celia Keenan-Bolger, Andrea Martin, and Kerry Washington.
And on the male side, we have a packed set of heavy-hitting contenders including Bryan Cranston, Jeff Daniels, Tracy Letts, Michael Urie, Paddy Considine, Nathan Lane, Paul Dano, and Ethan Hawke. And unfortunately poor Daniel Radcliffe will probably be left out for the 4th time, despite his charm and talent.

Don't forget Elaine May for The Waverly Gallery on the actress side.

Ah! Didn't know she'd be leading (I don't know the play)

I don't know if it means ANYTHING, but Andrea Martin is billed below the title on the artwork for GARY, so maybe she'd be featured?
Wow that Best Actor race is stacked already. For NETWORK, I feel like whoever plays the William Holden role could also be eligible as Best Actor, compared to the other featured roles in the play (the Ned Beatty and Robert Duvall characters). Tatiana Maslany in the Faye Dunaway role could probably go either Lead or Featured.

Don't forget Keri Russell/Adam Driver for Burn This. They may not have huge theatre followings but if it's a good production they could very much make it in. Joan Allen (whom I'm assuming, will be going featured for Waverly) won the Tony for Russell's part, so it's already a part of Tony history. And Russell has some fairly good industry goodwill from The Americans. Same for Driver, he seems to be very respected.
Im wondering if Bolger will be leading or featured. I could see where maybe she drops down to avoid some harsh competition. Same with Maslany maybe.
