Ghostlight Records has announced it will record the New York City Center (Arlene ShulerNew York City Center President & CEO) production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's musical Brigadoon, for a new cast recording to be released this fall. Brigadoon has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick LoeweStarringKelli O'HaraPatrick Wilson and Stephanie J. Block, the show features The Encores! Orchestra, led by Music Director Rob Berman. The Annual Gala Production was directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with Jack Viertel serving as artistic advisor. The album is being produced by Kurt DeutschLawrence Manchester, Rob Bermanand Emily Altman.

Before My Fair Lady and Camelot there was Brigadoon, Lerner & Loewe's transcendent romantic fantasy about the past, the present, and what it means to (almost) be in love. The classic 1947 musical, celebrating its 70th anniversary, follows Tommy Albright (Wilson), a jaded New Yorker who gets lost in the Scottish Highlands and stumbles into an idyllic town that only appears for one day every century. He quickly becomes smitten with the headstrong Fiona MacLaren (O'Hara) and makes an enemy of the rebellious Harry Beaton (Fairchild), bringing about a chain of events that could spell doom for the entire town.

The show stars Stephanie J. BlockPatricia DelgadoSara EstyRobert FairchildRich HebertJamie JacksonRoss LekitesAasif MandviDakin MatthewsKelli O'Hara and Patrick Wilson. The rest of the cast includes Mark AldrichGiselle O. I'm so happy! I've been dying to hear Ross Lekites' "Come to Me, Bend to Me" again.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Seriously! I remember seeing that and realizing he was ENSEMBLE in Frozen and getting mad. No diss to any ensemble members, but that guy deserves to be LEAD of a Broadway show. Magnificent talent!

I’ve never seen the show performed live, but I’d love a cast album that makes me want to see it live.

The movie version is OK...but just OK.

This production was SO lovely-- I'm very excited. I wish we could get a recording of Grand Hotel as well (the voices were wonderful and there's just so much cut from the original cast recording).

What a thrill. I wish it would transfer, though of course there’s no chance of that for the next year or two with O’Hara in Kiss Me, Kate and Block in The Cher Show. But it was one of the best things I’ve seen in the past year. Truly thrilling. And I’ve never been a huge fan of the piece (which I admittedly only knew from the film and cast recordings).

Is the cast going into the studio to record it? Or are they merely transferring all the music(or maybe the entire show) onto an album?

Pleasant surprise, I find the current complete recording to be rather lackluster.

Wonderful news! I wish The New Yorkers had received the same treatment. I don't think that score has ever even been recorded and I thought for sure one of the labels would take it on. It's Cole Porter!

Here's to that!! I'm happy to have a new Brigadoon, but The New Yorkers was a great reconstruction of an unrecorded show. PLEASE!!!

Encores released an album of Pipe Dream that came from a live recording of one of the performances, but here they say that they are going to record it. I guess that implies not using something that's already recorded.

I, too, wish we could get a recording of “Grand Hotel” - and now I’m not giving up hope completely yet. Though I still think it’s unlikely unfortunately.

So excited about this recording. I’m so happy to know that there will be a version of this score that I love in the world.

Overjoyed at this news.  Almost as overjoyed as I became watching this show.

Thrilled but not surprised that I'm not the only one longing to hear Ross's "Come to Me, Bend to Me" again.  Though I wish I could see it again.  The choreography of that number was breathtaking.

Love the show (one of my all time favorites; the other is "Carousel"Encores' BRIGADOON will receive a cast album this fall

Am currently studying travel/event planning and graphics through the New York Institute of Art&Design. Would like, very much to work within the Broadway community planning travel and events and would love to hear from anyone who perhaps needs this service. Also, pleas visit my site at Broadway Leading Ladies via Viewbug (see link above). My favorite performer (of all time) has to be the charming and talented Sally Murphy.
