This is America- Childish Gambino music video |
Right now, and certainly (previously) we/America/the world...I can go on...now more than ever before, need to see, hear, listen and understand...more and more about DG and Childish Gambino. This man is a true genius!
It disgusts me that KW (aka KK,KK,KK,KK,KK, etc) continue to make the audacious headlines and PR grabs that he and that poor excuse of wealth and family celebrity demonstrate. No wonder what'$ hi$ name i$ in the WH.

thanks for proving my point. maybe you should change your username to WhitePrivilegeJoe, seems more fitting.

You have no point other then the typical bs line that so many use nowadays. My opinion on this video isn't any less relevant than yours. I can also guarantee you that I've been profiled and stopped by more cops than you have in your lifetime. White privilege does not pertain to all whites. That nonsense simply isn't true.
It's a brilliant video. His whole appearance on SNL was fantastic. I loved his live performance of This Is America and Saturday. He can do anything.
". White privilege does not pertain to all whites. That nonsense simply isn't true. "
Read a book.
"like Stephon Clark who was breaking into cars and jumping fences to get away from the police. "
There is no evidence that Stephon Clark is the individual that was breaking into cars. He was shot six times...IN THE BACK.
"He was shot six times...IN THE BACK."
thank you! I'm glad some people get it.
"I can also guarantee you that I've been profiled and stopped by more cops than you have in your lifetime."
i didn't know it was a contest? but if it WAS a contest, its pretty obvious that people of color have it way worse than you do. you may have been stopped & profiled but were you shot? how many POC have been stopped and shot for no reason? when they had no weapon? Philando Castile? Or the black therapist that was protecting his special needs patient? the list goes on and on. so spare me your BS.

Based on the fact that you seem to think breaking into cars might be a capital offense, I'd say your opinion on anything is pretty irrelevant.

He was was jumping fences running away from them and then pointed something at them after they caught up to them....I'd expect to get shot as well in that situation.
Castile and the therapist were actually shot for no reason, they are real victims. 100% agree there but those cases aren't the same as Clark, at all.
"He was was jumping fences running away from them and then pointed something at them after they caught up to them."
I imagine it would be pretty hard for him to be pointing "something" at them considering he was running and FACING THE OTHER WAY. Hence being shot IN THE BACK SIX TIMES.
" I can also guarantee you that I've been profiled and stopped by more cops than you have in your lifetime."
I highly doubt this anecdote has any truth to it. But there is tons of empirical evidence out there that people of color or profiled more than white people. So even if your anecdote is true (which it probably isn't) it proves absolutely nothing.
Back on topic: this video is brilliant. The imagery and messaging that went into it is exactly what the music industry needs more of. And the entertainment industry at large could use more people like Donald Glover who see the world they live in and give the people not just what they want, but what they need.
It's a great video and a really good song, it's too bad it's not just the opening number to something feature-length - I'd gladly sit through 85 more minutes of Gambino music video, especially if it's as visually intense and politically on-point. It's so surreal and discomforting. Also, those schoolkid dancers really tear it up.
