Good Idea/Bad Idea? Asking actors to sign my Graduation cap.

Hey everybody! I'm trying to get a general opinion here of whether or not it would be a good idea to go around to a bunch of stage doors of shows I've seen in the past few months and ask actors to sign my graduation cap? I've had a rough time this year emotionally and seeing so many Broadway shows has helped keep me on track to finishing college. But would this seem rude to do? Would a lot of the actors say no or think I was some autograph hound?

Phuck no. Go ahead. If they sign it, you scored. Doesn’t hurt anyone and it’ll make you feel better. If they refuse, then they refuse. Onto the next stage door. You owe no one an explanation and it’s no one’s business if they consider it rude. Good luck!

If you still have your Playbills you could bring each show's with you, just so it's obvious you actually saw the show and weren't just crashing for autographs. I would hope most actors would smile and sign, it's a clever idea in my opinion :) Good luck!

Just a suggestion, bring a metallic sharpie so the signature shows up! Silver looks nice on blues, purples, and blacks, while gold looks good on whites, reds, and greens. I'd love to see the result!

Such a cute idea. If it’s not going too crazy, maybe divide your cap into sections for each show (like the gypsy robe does) and put something small that represents the show, so the signatures are grouped by show.

Me too. Not just that, but I never bothered to decorate any of my graduation caps, either.

This is a super-sweet idea! Like the other commenters in this thread, I think most actors would love hearing the story and knowing they made a difference in your college career.

For what it’s worth, after TBV Tony Shaloub signed my mother-in-law’s Schmackery’s cookie tin. So I’m sure many performers would be willing to sign your cap, particularly when you explain your rationale.

I normally think it's bad form to stage door a show you weren't at that performance of but if I saw someone doing this I'd try to get them to the front. Love the idea.

It wouldn't seem rude and most Broadway actors would probably gladly do it. Just maybe not Nathan Lane lol.
