RENT: Live! on Fox

I wonder if this will be the same style as JCS and use a live audience. Their Instagram account shows L.A. in the description, but it seems most suiting to film it in NY. Not airing until Jan. 2019, so hopefully lots of good news to come!

RENT: Live! is being produced by the same team that produced GREASE: Live! so I think it is safe to assume they will incorporate elements used for GREASE: Live! - using both exteriors and soundstages in Los Angeles.  I'm sure they will incorporate the same live audience participation for sections of the musical which merit it: Maureen's 'performance art', etc.  It airs from 7pm-10pm ET so expect modifications to the book and lyrics, like GREASE: Live! had to do.

Actually as much as I am looking forward to it, I doubt Rent Live will happen now due to we haven't had casting news and the low ratings of Christmas Story Live. Which I enjoyed but not as much as Grease Live by the way

It's a year away. The lack of casting news is not indicative of a cancellation.

Personally, I don't see why this is necessary. The "final" performance is available on DVD (and I think Netflix streaming), I don't know why these networks don't pick shows that aren't really represented (adequately or at all).

I don't know either. And it felt too soon to announce it with the show's 20th anniversary tour going on as we speak

All the musicals FOX have done have had a movie incarnation already, they go for the shows with the built-it audience to justify the cost.
