Shows for All-Female Schools#1

Hello All,

I teach at an All-Girls School in PA that has an up and coming theatre program. The past two years we have done A Piece of My Heart and Who Will Carry the Word. This years cast size looks to be around 10-12 girls ranging from 14-17 years of age. We are looking to do something that is on the lighter side this year, following two years of intense dramas. I am looking for a full length play that showcases my young actors well. All of the actors that I have this year have theatre experience. Thoughts and suggestions?

Thanks!

I have the same problem! We have only one boy for our show next year, and therefore need a good female show, but can't find any! I will let you know if I find any.

have you looked at sites like Playscripts.com and Theaterfolk.com?   They specialize in theater for younger people (but not solely) and they definitely have single sex plays....you can even put in your requirement.

finding plays that are just predominantly female is pretty difficult....musicals are damn near impossible.  I've always been grateful that my program has a strong number of men.  (Not 50/50...but good enough)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
