Since I created last year's OFFICIAL thread (accept no substitutes), and I still think awards predictions are silly, I suppose I should get a jump on next year, especially as more and more shows for next season are being announced.

I will be the first to say Robin De Jesus should win best Featured Actor for Emory in Boys in the Band, based on absolutely no information and not a single performance yet, just to start things off on the right foot...

Moulin Rouge! and Hadestown battle it out in the musical categories.

The Ferryman and To Kill a Mockingbird battle it out in the play categories.

Stephanie J. Block becomes a Tony winner.

I seriously think the above poster was right about Moulin Rouge and Hadestown battling it out.

Hot take: Hadestown ends up not transferring because it isn’t “commercial” enough. Moulin Rouge, despite mixed reviews, sweeps the Tonys because there aren’t any other decent new musicals. Aaron Tveit will undeservingly win his first Tony, and Kiss Me Kate will be conjoined with revived plays into a general “Best Revival” category thanks to the fact that they were the only musical revival.

For all of you saying “This past season was horrible, let’s move on.”, I don’t think the days of quality, original theatre will be returning anytime soon.

I just hope it's a better season than 2017-18. Hadestown, Moulin Rouge, Jagged Little Pill, Ain't Too Proud, The Cher Show.

And Kiss Me, Kate for Best Revival. Unless Dreamgirls and/or Crazy For You happens.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Isn't Beetlejuice and Tootsie also slated for productions this season? With Santino Fontana and David Yazbeck attached to Tootsie, I wouldn't count it out.

That sounds like a horrible idea for a mash-up.

My way too early prediction is a Best Actor win for Santino Fontana’s performance in TOOTSIE.

Literally nothing wins as Broadway is gone forever as Trump nukes the entire district as punishment for Robert De Niro's actions on the Tony Awards. The only performance in the season will be De Niro's public execution in one of the theaters before the missiles are fired.

Escape to Margaritaville reopens in a beautiful reimagining by Michael Arden, transforming the Circle in the Square into an immersive Margaritaville. It takes Best Revival.

I think this'll be Hadestown's year. I certainly think Patrick Page and Amber Gray are (way too) early frontrunners in their categories, which will probably be featured. They were incredible off Broadway. Unfortunately it's the only show we've seen so far, other than Pretty Woman, so there really isn't anything to base any real predictions on. Interested to see how Moulin Rouge and Beetlejuice will play out. I could see some innovative work popping up in those shows. I also really wonder if Kelli may land her second Tony. Also, from what I understand, the Dreamgirls revival is dead and rightfully so. It was dreadful.

I imagine we'll get the Crazy for You revival. I can't think of any reason why not, it's just a matter of securing theatre space.

But if Dreamgirls is dead, I have no idea what to expect for revivals. I believe Carlyle is too busy to bring The Secret Garden in this coming season, but maybe they would try to make it work because of such little competition? Although who knows if his production is any good, we've seen nothing of it.

If Will Chase continues with Kiss Me Kate, he's not to be counted out just yet for Best Actor. He was phenomenal in the concert.

Hope this one transfers! Would love to see it and don't see myself making it to London anytime soon.

How about an Everybody's Talking About Jamie transfer while we're at it?

Of course the category will get harder when I start seeing performances, but how much would I love if my queen Kelli O'Hara won for Kiss Me Kate AND won the Olivier for The King and I???

The Inheritance cannot beat The Ferryman. The former can't hold a candle to AiA especially with AiA so recent. The Ferryman is one of the most incredible plays I've ever seen.

Oh and Everybody's Talking About Jamie will make Frozen and Mean Girls look like the highest quality shows ever on Broadway.
