Okay! A little bland in my opinion, but I'm cool with this.
They are adorable. It's going to be adorable.

Jeffrey posted this first so I'm bumping into the top. But apparently we needed two other threads.
Really? Do they really want people to watch the show? These two are a snooze fest and have about as charisma as a paper weight. They maybe talented but not for emceeing an awards show unless you really don't want people to notice.
Was Tina Fey busy?
As with every other year, the people who have any interest in the Tony Awards are going to watch no matter who is hosting --- and the people who don't care about the Tony Awards aren't going to watch them no matter who is hosting. It's really that simple.

THIS. ^^^
Unless it's someone like Beyonce, it doesn't matter who hosts. Not gonna make a dent in ratings.

Though this year's Tonys should get pretty mainstream with nominees like Frozen, Harry Potter, Mean Girls, and SpongeBob SquarePants. Not to mention an inevitable appearance by Bruce Springsteen.

Won't make a bit of difference. If Springsteen opens the show, some fans will watch those first 5 minutes and change the channel. If he closes the show they'll watch the clip on Youtube.

And I wish it was just Sara.
Josh does have some TV hosting cred, and was actually in the running to replace Michael Strahan as Kelly Ripa’s cohost. I understand daytime TV and awards shows are different animals, but I’m nowhere near close to writing him off.
Sara Bareilles may actually surprise me.

There are two reasons I can think of to choose a particular host(s). One is that they will nudge up the audience share (has never worked in a significant way) and the other is that the person(s) will, because of their talents, contribute to a very good show (not within either wheelhouse here). As always, the only interesting thing to know would be the list of people who said no.
No disrespect intended to either performer, but if the show's producers were hoping for high viewership and ratings this was not a great choice.
Really a shame, too...especially after the recent success of live musicals (not to mention the Big "Ham"), Broadway is more apart of the cultural landscape than it has been in recent memory. This seems like a tonedeaf choice.
We want MORE ratings and exposure; I realize Mr. Groban is popular but I'm not sure if he'll be the ratings draw they need. Plus in light of the NPHs and Hugh Jackmans of the world...well. Let's just say the charisma is not as prevalent.

I'll bet the home I just bought that Fey was asked and declined, for whatever reason.
My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."

Well, she just got a Broadway musical up and running, so she probably wants a break after having gone through all that hard work.

Tina Fey is doing the season finale of Saturday Night Live in late May.
See, I was hoping that they were going to bring Kevin Spacey back. I was looking forward to his monologue, interrupted of course by Anthony Rapp, after which hilarity ensues.
