I have TSA precheck now and have no bags so I can get there at 6:20

I would like to know if its possible to see a show and make my flight that night.

I know someone asked about making a show landing at 6:20 how about the reverse scenario

Which show? If you're getting out of a 3:00 show at 5:45PM, I'd say hard no on that one.

Unless it's The Band's VisitOnce on This Island, or any other 90-minute show, no. And even then, you would be cutting it close. Especially considering the traffic in and around the city.

You'd still be cutting it close, but maybe.

I personally wouldn't do it, but the choice is yours.

Something to also consider is the fact that TSA Pre-Check at LaGuardia is not consistent. In some cases you still have to queue-up with everyone else, so you don't save that much time.

I think you could do it. Come From Away gets out at 4:40. In your favor you have no bags and are tsa pre check. So you are in a cab by 4:50 and at the airport no later than 5:50. You can do it. I do this sort of thing every time I visit New York. As long as the show you choose is done by about 5 pm you should be fine.

As long as it is a domestic flight you should be good if you catch one of the earlier show times. For international you shoud be there 60 to 90 minutes early at minimum.

If you are seeing Come From Away, it's totally possible. Just leave the minute the show gets out. I've done it before, so you should have no problem.

I have a plan coming up this summer that involves exiting a midtown theater just after 9, and being on an international flight at 12:40am. If that will work, yours definitely will.

what's the best way to get to LaGuardia from times square given traffic at that time, I was thinking uber or subway since traffic is always awful during that time

Even with traffic car is better. The only way to get to LGA with public transport is subway to bus which will take at least an hour. A car will take 20 minutes without traffic and traffic isn't usually that bad once you're out of the busy parts of Manhattan.

Also, I don't know how well you know LGA but you should also consider you might get lost on the way to your terminal and gate and such. I live in NYC and still get very confused at JFK and LGA so it's something to consider. But it possible. If you get on a highway you'll be at LGA very fast.

I would recommend catching an uber somewhere on 8th avenue, rather than 45th street or close to Times Square. It won't save a ton of time, but it'll make a small difference.

It is possible if you're watching a 2pm matinee show.

My friends had an 8pm flight out of LGA and they were able to watch Dear Evan Hansen matinee at 3pm. Show was done by 5:45pm and they were in a taxi by 6pm to LGA with a lot of time to spare (they also have pre-check).

For LGA, I also recommend getting CLEAR as it enables you to cut the line for security (both precheck and non-precheck). https://www.clearme.com/how-it-works

A number of things to keep in mind.  LGA is undergoing a lot of construction, the whole place is a mess with lots of detours and traffic lights.  Also, they close the doors to the aircraft 15-20 minutes before flight time, so you should factor that in too. You should be at the gate by 6:30 the latest.
