“I’ve been to the circus. I have seen the clowns. The lions and the dancing dogs. Trapezes up and down I asked the fortune teller if they had come to stay.  She didn't give an answer. so the magic goes away......the saying goes that home is where the heart is but empty is the home that has no soul. I have learned that I can make a pillow from any stone that held me in the cold..... somewhere down the road there’s an easy chair. Somewhere down the road I’m sure I’ll stay. Better leave them smiling than to stick around. When the magic goes away”  I sang it in musical theater camp in the late 1990s.  It's a duet, and I want to say the one character is "tiny" or "small".  One part is pessimistic, and one is optimistic.  I have googled it to exhaustion to no avail.

Do you remember the plot to the show it was in? Cos I'm thinking it might have been written specifically for whatever show the camp was doing.

  There wasn't a specific show the camp was putting on, it was all different songs from different musicals and Disney etc.
