Seeing Sweeney Todd next week and looking for recs for restaurants nearby.   (This is our 2nd time seeing it, so we've already had the pie!)  Nothing TOO expensive....looking to spend under a hundred for two.  We like most types of cuisine but looking to avoid Indian and Italian as we're already planning those.

Thanks in advance!

It's a tad pricey, but the Black Label Burger at Minetta Tavern a few blocks away on Macdougal is one of my favorite meals in the city.

Too bad you've already got Indian planned. Mint Masala is on the same block as Minetta Tavern and their food is excellent. Also reasonably priced.

Uncle Charlie (or anyone else) - we were planning to have dinner at Sapphire (near Lincoln Center) -- Mint Masala "better" or just as good?   We could easily change plans.

"

Dramamama, I've never eaten at Sapphire so I can't really give you a first hand comparison of the two. For what it's worth, Sapphire has a 3.5 Yelp rating and Mint Masala has a 4.0, and Sapphire is about 30-40% more expensive for the same dishes cause you're paying for the location. I don't live in NYC but when I'm in town and want Indian food, Mint Masala is where I go. I've eaten a lot of Indian food over the years and I really like their dishes. It's a tiny place but I think they do a really good job.

If budget isn't a question, "One If By Land. Two If By Sea" would be my choice.

With a budget: Little Owl, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Cuba, Fonda, Meatball Shop (really cheap)

I ate at Cuba in Greenwich Village the night I saw Sweeney. 10 minute walk to the theater. Def consider reservations. I also endorse John’s Pizzeria on Bleecker Street. I ate there before I saw Buyer and Cellar at the same theater a few years ago. Very close to theater and very affordable.

Dunno about dinner but highly recommend the ice cream from A Big Gay Icrecream Shop. It's the absolute best and I don't even like ice cream normally.

Yes, I went to Big Ice Cream after Sweeney. As someone who loves ice cream, I wouldn’t say it was life changing great, but it was a nice capper to a great day.

When I spoke to Michael Urie after Buyer and Cellar, I seem to recall he praised a French restaurant close to the theater. Anyone know what place that might be?

Probably Boucherie? It’s steps away from the theater. My friend and I had lovely cocktails/apps there after Sweeney.

Thanks for all the ideas, we decided to cancel Sapphire reservations and go with Mint Masala..  So, now to choose a place near LIncoln Center.  (Not too worried.)
