Heathers is making its West End debut this summer. Apparently they have added new songs. Could they still be attempting to bring this show to Broadway?

I hope they are not replacing songs. Love this score and really enjoyed the show. I was hoping this would transfer with a fuller production.

Where did it say they were replacing songs?

I think what really needs to be changed is the ending. The devil horns on the poser looks very tacky.

It didn't. The OP said they were adding songs. Sorry i was not clear but my comment was meant that i hope the songs they are adding are not replacing others.

I think O'Keefe once said he liked the song that replaced "Blue" in the junior version more than "Blue" itself, so it seems as though that could be a possible change. Just a guess though!

Also, were they ever actually interested in bringing this show to Broadway? They closed off-Broadway then released the rights shortly after. I think this is something separate.

However, given how much of a rabid following this show has developed since closing in 2014, maybe there's more of an interest and producers are seeing a better market for it now?

I knew people involved with the show and it seemed as if they would like to have taken it to Broadway. I also got the feeling that they were testing the material and not looking for an immediate transfer. That was just a feeling i got.

I doubt that they would have transferred with the minimalistic set they had. But, for me, it proved that the material was good as the lack of or more of a set didn't bother me as the performances and material were strong enough to fill in.

I do know by the end of the run they had people coming from more than 2 states away just to see it. A lot dressed as Heathers. One group came with scrapbooks for the cast.

I was thinking about this show the past few months and thought at this point in time it may not do/play well with current events. But younger people In high school got it and these things had already been happening.

Just my long winded opinions and random thoughts!

Closing night the producer said that they hoped to transfer the show to Broadway at some point and remake the movie.

One of the writers on twitter said they were adding new songs. I’ll try to find the tweet.

Elegance101 is correct about 'Blue'; the article at http://www.playbill.com/article/heathers-writers-laurence-okeefe-and-kevin-murphy-break-down-the-musicals-full-album-track-by-track explains that 'Blue' is being replaced by 'You're Welcome', and outlines why the writers made that change. (I like many of the songs in the show, but I can't say I would regret losing 'Blue'.)

Edit: in the 'Shine a Light (Reprise)' section of the article, there's also a hint that Heather Duke will be given more to sing.

I thought this was the most offensively ugly professional show I've seen. Like zero set, the lighting was awful. I was surprised. The score is great, and the show is fun. I'd be curious to see how it works in the West End with more design/direction.

So, this is coming to the Other Palace, which is basically 'off West End' and tickets are usually extremely reasonably priced (as is most of the proper West End). I've seen everything there for the past 4 years and the most I've paid for like, third row center is 41 pounds (for Kelsey Grammer in Big Fish, so like, yeah, pretty big deal). The cheapest tickets I"m finding for Heathers are 65!!!! That's more than most West End proper shows. Is it really that good? Are they just counting on the rabid following paying out the nose for this? It's a shock for this theatre.

When I checked this morning they were cheaper tickets available, they're just selling really fast I know the website crashed a couple of times due to traffic.

Got my second row ticket for 37.50. Cheaper tickets were available, just not a lot.

I don't dig it. But curious to see production pics. No one seems of-age at all. And if they aren't, they better be great, and I'm not sold.

Oh wow, I REALLY hate that choreography. Like, I REALLY HATE IT. I'm planning on seeing this in a few weeks when I go to London, and I love the show anyway, but I'm not quite sure what to expect...

I liked Veronica's voice, but why is she so ANGRY at everything? Didn't like the acting.

The show is sold out completely so unless you're betting on lottery tickets, start checking re-sales.

Okay so West End Live is not the most flattering setting but this was painful

The choreography is very bad. It almost seems too busy? Heather Chandler should be more still, but the choreography is too in-your-face.

Also, I don't dislike Carrie Hope Fletcher as Veronica, but I wish her hair was more like the original movie's. Plus, it looks very flat and pulled-back, when it's an 80s show?

It was just announced that Heathers will be transferring from The Other Palace to The West End starting this September for 12 weeks only!
