Potter: London vs. NYC |

Edit bot gonna delete my post but basically you can disregard it bc it's based on old/outdated and possibly misremembered information.
The friend I took to the first preview had seen the show in London and she told me a few of the changes. Most of them were things added or improved, there were a handful of dream sequences that were not in London, she also said some of the make up and special effects were greatly improved. Nothing substantial but she made it sound like the NYC version is just slightly improved.

The current London matches the Broadway version in terms of scenes so I'm not sure what your friend means by dream sequences.
Recently, there was a technical issue in London that hurt an actor and that element is currently not in the London or the Broadway production anymore (although had had previously been in the Broadway production prior to the accident in London).
But the only significant differences between the two are additional lines in a couple of scenes and the direction during the Old Witches and Wizards Home.
The make up for Delphi changed between the first and second cast in London so that's not a change from London to Broadway.
I've seen it twice in London, but haven't noticed any additional "dream sequences" that weren't in the London production (but I saw it in September and January, so perhaps they are recent additions that have also transferred). I know there have been some minor script changes, and the retirement home scene is different.

Interesting, she saw it a while back with the original cast in London and said that the grave scene was new (but maybe she just didn't remember it? Since I just saw it is in the script, which I've still not read) and also that the big baddy at the very end had horrible makeup and was so much better in the Broadway version. Maybe those were added/fixed after she saw it since no one else mentions those being different .
I can only guess that the accident was at the final battle because we noticed on moment was removed and it went a lot faster (and others in the review thread like the change for character reasons, which I agree with). Didn't know it was changed due to an accident, though.
She did also mention additional shenanigans in the old folks home, which I'd forgotten about until you brought it up.
I saw it in London back in October 2016 and saw the first Bway preview so I probably forget any changes if there were any. I do remember that something was off with the Delphi on Broadway and when I checked the playbill I noticed she wasn't in the London production so I guess it'll take time for Delphi's chemistry with Albus/Scorpius to develop in terms of timing etc.
Overall, I do remember that the Palace theatre in London is taller and the stage is narrower. There were 4 floors of seats (stalls, dress circle, grand circle, and balcony) in London whereas in NYC there are only 3 floors (orch, dress circle, balcony).

During the final confrontation with Delphi, after Harry is disarmed, he hides under a pew. Delphi taunts his cowardly act and then levitates the pew. Harry now just hides behind the pew, and Delphi no longer taunts him about being a coward. Almost immediately, Albus appears to try and disarm Delphi, and less than ten seconds after that everyone else appears.
At least that's what I assume is the technical change, since the pew no longer levitates. And they may have further changed the staging since, it definitely needed tightening when I saw it.

Yes, the pew was removed. In London, last week or the week before, the pew semi-fell on the actor who plays Harry (It wasn't Jamie but one of his understudies, Gideon; all Harrys in London have been named Jamie). He's fine but yeah, they don't want that to happen again.

Which baddy are you talking about? Delphi or Voldy? If the former, they changed the makeup in London when they changed actresses between Cast 1 and Cast 2, so that was already in place before coming to the US. If the latter, I never really paid attention to his makeup but I know a few British fans who have seen it there and here have commented to me that his makeup is better here than there.
To note, Voldy and Snape are planned by the same actor. From what I remembered in London, his bow was as Voldy. Here on Broadway, his bow is as Snape.

Yup, the ones other people mentioned, the latter. I want to look up the old makeup for the former, because I really liked it.

Curious to hear when this changed because this Wednesday night (4/11) this was definitely in the Broadway Production.

They made have added it back in. I saw it on Broadway on Sunday (4/8) and it wasn't in.
That’s too bad, I saw the first Broadway previews and that moment bothered me character-wise, so I was glad to hear it had changed.
