So happy to see that a new film, Don Hahn's ''Howard,'' will celebrate the lyrical legacy of Howard Ashman.

I almost don't want to see the documentary because I feel it'll be devastating.

Ashman was a genius who was taken from us way, way too soon. Not only a fantastic lyricist, but an excellent musical theatre artist who understood the medium better than most.

and he is the person who prevented Menken from being Menken during his time; he has never been the same since.

He was the greatest talent of his generation, a dramaturgical genius as well as a nimble and heartfelt lyricist. Honestly don't know if I can bring myself to watch this.

It's sad but true. Nothing Menken has done since Ashman's passing has been as good as anything from their collaboration.
