I saw the show yet again last night, everytime I see it there's been changes and it just keeps getting better and better and more cohesive. I also saw Michael Mayer (the director) at the show last night. I talked to one of the ensemble members and she said they had 30 pages of notes. She also mentioned that there's gonna be some major plot changes when it gets to NYC. I'm excited to see it on Broadway and see how much it's changed. As for changes, the flowers were cut from "Here You Are" which I believe someone on here already mentioned, there's some added lines for Mopsa and Pamela in "Our Lips Are Sealed", Mopsa's line "The lotions and potions of Lesbos" was cut, the King's monologue after the third flag comes down was rewritten, and a very unnecessary scene in the beginning right before they leave for Bohemia (I can't even remember what it was about) was also cut. They also gave Mopsa and the ensemble jackets for their journey to Bohemia. I'm seeing the show again before it closes in SF and will report on any new changes.

Another note, every time I've seen the show (I've seen it 3 times now) there's been someone over the age of 60+ who's walked out. My friend said that when

so this is really gonna have to be a millennial and under the age of 50 fueled show when it hits Broadway. All the conservatives are gonna hate it. Alexandra Socha said they're doing a lot of cool promo stuff when it gets to Broadway as well since it's a hard name to sell. I just really hope it does well. The word is getting around SF and the theatre was pretty full last night, it was a very energetic crowd.

Apologies.  Review was on the other thread.

"Attended with my group of twenty last night [Thursday] and we all enjoyed it very much.  I do agree that Peppermint's costumes were less than glam and several other costumes should be rethought.  Lighting, sound, production design were all very good.  Cast absolutely sold the story and the audience was very receptive.  Use of the Go-Gos songs was inventive for the most part.  Tom Kitt's arrangements and the cast and "all girl band" sold the tunes splendidly.   Act 1 meandered a bit, but act 2 whizzed right along.  Of the performers Andrew Durand seemed the most secure in his character, but Peppermint needs more rehearsal time to get into character.   Spoke to director Michael Mayer prior to the curtain and he reiterated that HOH is still very much a work in progress.  Altho the press opening has come and gone I'm guessing that it may not be frozen for the remainder of the SF run.

It is well after 1am as I write this, so please forgive any ramblings.

Questions, comments, observations?"

I, too; think the costumes are weird in this show. I can get behind the sparkles for the royal family, I really don't understand why they put the older daughter in that big dress for pretty much most of the show, but then have her swap into something different for the bows.
The two ensemble costumes with the eyes are also very odd. As are Peppermint's costumes. They are very bland and cheap looking.

Saw it tonight and loved it. Had a great time. My husband and I came up from LA just to see this for fear it won’t be playing in New York next time we are there. We go every April. Really glad to have seen it! I hope it does well in New York. Also caught The Color Purple whike we were here which was wonderful as expected.

The age guidance on the summary for TDF says 13+.  For those who have seen it, is it really ok for a 13 year old?  My daughter loves musical theater and has seen a lot of shows, but I've not yet taken her to Spring Awakening or shows like that.  Thoughts appreciated!

The content is no worse than a PG-13 movie, IMO. The most "adult" part of the story comes when

The scene is set to "Heaven is a Place on Earth" with silhouetted dancers in suggestive poses. Nothing worse than the Contact number in Rent.

Overall the show is very sweet. I would feel okay about taking a mature 13 year old, but I'm also not a parent and you know your daughter best.
