While I am pretty weary of movies becoming musical fodder, I'm honestly excited by this one....and it actually makes sense since so much of the movie is about the kids' passion for music.  I hope they don't screw it up!  Empire Records

Oh wow! I hope it doesn't suck! I loved this movie as a kid and I just absolutely loved the soundtrack. I'll have to go listen to it again. Just watched the trailer linked in the article... the memories. Oh when there were CD stores...

It looks like the original screenwriter will be involved potentially so they should be able to convey the original spirit of the movie. For me, it's success will come down to getting the rights to all the songs used in the movie (much harder for theatre and more expensive) and the quality of the original songs written for the musical. I guess we can all cross our fingers and hope!

I hear Maxwell Caulfield is in talks to reprise Rex Manning for the stage production. True?

...is a puzzlement.
