AMDA Audition Questions?#1

Listen... I’m fairly new to Broadway World and even I know about how most people on this board dislike AMDA.. but I’m auditioning for them next week, mostly as a backup school. I’ve heard that they have an interview section and that they may even ask me questions during my audition... anyone know any of these question? How should I prepare? Do they like certain answers or attitudes or what? Thanks everyone!

The interview is very easy and low-stress. They may ask you questions about your monologues (character motivation, etc) as well as questions about you as a person (what your goals/aspirations are, why you’re choosing to audition for AMDA, dream roles, etc). It lasts about 5 minutes total.

They might ask you to take your shirt off. They did at my audition.

Having gone to AMDA for a year (and then I bounced and went to an actual college), I would very strongly advise against it. Some grads might get defensive and it's like...fine for some people but they aren't an accredited educational institution and if you do decide to go on to a BA/BFA your credits won't transfer, unless things have changed since I was there.

Anyway, as far as the audition, it was pretty chill. The interview was super short and not difficult.

Things have changed. It is an accredited school and you can transfer credits or get a bfa from amda. But I would also advise going to a school where you can expand your interests and future options.

they take almost anyone. Its a assembly line school. They want to make as much money off of kids as possible. Why would anyone go there now when there are better options.
