"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

It’s pretty cool that Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King both hold this record in two different theatres.

What's up with the American Airlines Theatre? They're longest running show has less than 350 performances? That's like an 8 month run

It hosted a few decent productions before being turned into a cinema. Roundabout restored it and as a nonprofit they need to produce new shows for its subscribers. Having a super long running show running in its majorly not commercial theater won't make the subscribers happy. Although they do rent out places like Studio 54 and Stephen Sondheim Theater from time to time, I don't think they have done the same with American Airlines.

I know it was a much different time, but I find it amazing that Dead End (with a cast of about 80) ran for 687 performances from 1935-1937.
