Will We Ever Get Mary Stuart Masterson Back On Broadway? |
She was by far my favorite part of the NINE revival. Absolutely masterful.

I wish. The last I saw her it was on one of those terrible procedurals. I think it was Blindspot. I'd much rather see her on Broadway.
In a perfect world, it would be fabulous seeing her take on the role which her mother Carlin Glynn created and won a Tony Award for: Miss Mona in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS.
She's currently working on a film/tv development project in the Hudson Valley. http://www.dailyfreeman.com/article/DF/20171018/NEWS/171019674
I loved her performance as Luisa. It was so understandable why Guido loved her. I found her far superior to Karen Akers who originated the part, who I didn't care for and whose voice I find grating.
Now living in DC. I really have to change my name on the board.

Exactly what I was thinking. Since her Father Peter Masterson was one of the original authors I think this would be especially cool.
her performance of My Husband Makes Movies is my favorite of the many recordings. she is perfect in the role vocally. tbh that revival is one of my favorite recordings period, i’ve heard many people don’t like the accents that were being done but i don’t mind them (i miss the song Germans at the Spa though)

Thank you for sharing those clips, Jordan. I didn’t get to see her live, but I remember becoming obsessed with the NINE recording when I came across it in my local library soon after it came out (my first exposure to NINE) and ever since I have been a huge fan of Mary Stuart Masterson’s genius take on Luisa. She’s always been incredibly underrated. I would have hoped she’d have a thriving Broadway career. She can sing like the best of them but more importantly she knows how to act through song. I hope she’s back on Broadway in another classy, top-notch show like NINE. I love BrodyFosse’s idea of having her back on stage as Miss Mona.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
