Iceman Cometh Rush Reports |
I don't really have a report. Just kicking myself for not waiting for them to announce their rush policy. Sunday, which is the day (in May) that I am seeing the show, would have been the only day I could have rushed for any of my shows. I could have waited and got (possibly) a better seat for little money than the mezzanine seat (high up) that I paid $135 for.
I just posted this in the preview thread, but will paste it here too for the record:
I got to the box office around noon today. I was told they sold out of the $40 rush pretty much right away when the box office opened (apparently there were about 10 tickets, mostly in the boxes). But she offered me a "2nd tier" rush, which was $79, with a better view, and I ended up springing for it. Row I of the orchestra on the isle. I was a little worried because it was still marked "partial view," but I could see almost everything just fine, without even any heads blocking the way. It was a great seat after all!
Rushed this morning. Arrived a little after 8am and was first in line. By 9am there were 4 people at at 10am there were 11 people.
The box office is offering a 'tiered' Rush at $40/$59/$79 (I believe these are the 3 levels but could have misheard)
The box office person said tickets at all levels are partial view.
We got two $40 tickets. Front Mezz Row A, on the far side aisle.

Thanks for the reports. I didn't realize there was such thing as a "tiered" Rush. I'd be interested in hearing how the view is from the partial view seats in that theatre.

It's a relatively new concept - I had never heard of an example of it before Sunset Boulevard just last year. It's kind of irritating to me, but I guess as long as they still have a $30-$40 tier available, it's hard to complain.
As I said earlier, my $79 "Partial view" seat was practically full view.
I just rushed - showed up a little after 10 am and there had only been four people before me. The box office offered $40 far side mezz (partial view) or $59 (limited view) in the third row. I went with the $59 to be close up... but now I'm remembering I sat front/far house left for Once and had a very difficult time seeing - less because of the proscenium and more because when actors would stand/sit anywhere near our side of the stage, it blocked most of the action. Hopefully this won't happen again! I have to think if they're selling them for more, they must be a better view, but we'll see. I'd appreciate any reports from people who've sat in the limited view up front. On a separate note - nice to see that this rush is very attainable.

If you're a TDF member I suggest buying it there and save your time from waiting on line.

So... how was your view?
I thought this was going to be a high demand ticket show. With an easy rush and discounts available, I would have never paid $135 for a lousy seat. But you take the risk when you are traveling from out of town. I lost out on this one.
Saw this last night (friday). The first 15 minutes were a bit clunky and wasn't looking forward to 4 hours of this...and then everyone fell into their parts and it flew buy. Great night of theater. David Morse stole the show for me.

From across the street at Carousel, the line didn’t started until 8 when the first person arrived then 3 people came at 8:30ish
