Rupauls Drag Race Season 10 |
I'm excited for the NYC queens. Monet X Change can really turn it out in performance.
I’m so excited! Mostly because I’m dying for the show to return to its roots of equal parts drama and talent and not just a garden variety reality show devoid of all the things that made us love Drag Race to begin with. I’m rooting for that whole batch of NYC queens. Miz Cracker is my favorite so far, just based on interviews and that opening 14 minutes.
Great opening episode, I thought! The right girl probably won and the right one surely went home first. There was a powerhouse starstudded mini-challenge (revelatory to see some of the past winning queens the way they look today), and a truly worthy maxi challenge (shades of our favorite old Project Runway challenges). The whole hour and a half showed real skills and real honest drama. Hail the returning champion of reality shows.
Now this is what I call a great opening episode! Most of these new queens are so good, it's currently hard for me to pick a favorite. That Christina Aguilera entrance though was really funny.
Agree with Someone In A Tree--the right queen one and the right one went home. Vanessa reminded me uncomfortably of Season 9 Aja.
This episode reminded me of seasons 2-5 where the show didn't need to construct drama because queens weren't constantly watching what they say/feel, or producers wouldn't make stuff happen where there wasn't any (I mean, in an obvious way).
I loved me some Vanessa hope there's a return episode. Realllly looking forward to this season!
This is definitely a high bar season 10 has set for itself. Excited to see where it takes us.
For those that live in NYC. Are there any clubs where the Season 10 (or other seasons) girls perform Wednesday -Sunday? Would like to see a show (in May) after my evening show, but somewhere that the show doesn't start at midnight or 1:00 am. Thanks.

Off the top of my head:
Dusty is at Pieces on Fridays and hosts Look Queen on Sundays
Monet is at Harware on Sunday nights (with Cracker), and Industry on Thursday.
Aquaria doesn't seem to have a set gig that I'm familiar with. I always end up seeing her at a random party or event.
But keep in mind that Drag Race generally changes a Queens schedule. The weekly gig life turns into the tour life.
Monet performs along with the fantastic Pixie Aventura (undoubtedly a future contestant herself) at Barracuda regularly, too.

I saw the end of Monet at Hardware a few weeks ago.

Welp... Dusty Ray Bottoms just announced she is no longer doing Frisky Friday's at Pieces, or The Dusty Ray Bottoms Show at Hardware.
I am already over The Vixen. You can tell she’s a force of nature to watch live, but I am not at all into messy queens who live for drama.
Right now, Trixie is doing two tours at once- her Moving Parts show, plus the Hater's Roast. And the other queens are involved in tours or are booked at clubs everywhere. It's crazy. The queens often talk about how they rarely even get to go home.
Between her three weeping sessions over the 2 hours and her backseat driving during the prep for the challenge, I am... over Eureka. And her best drag was... questionable.
She slayed the lip sync, undoubtedly. But I think her time on this show is running out.
That maxi challenge was truly bizarre, but thank GOD for Team Vixen bringing at least some personality and humor to what can only be described as the definition of “bottom of the barrel.”
I know she’s not going to last, but I liiiiiiive for Blair’s runway looks. This week was breathtaking. I’m generally dubious that this was anyone’s “very best drag,” but I imagine they’d want to save their very best for later on in the season. As Ross said “If it’s in the closet, it won’t do you any good.”
