I was wondering about the Defying Gravity lift in Wicked. On Broadway is it in the stage and on tour it’s a lift behind her?

wow, I’ve never seen the lift in Japan before and I have to say it kind of sucks. You can clearly even see it underneath her for a few seconds when the light shines through the dress/cape

The two Japanese production videos are not from the replica production that played Tokyo. A few years ago Universal Studios Tokyo had a roughly half hour theme park version of the show. Those Defying Gravity lifts that you see are from videos of that show.

Yeah, the effect that Ms. Block demonstrates is much more effective; the Japanese version is very disappointing.
