School of Rock tour |
I saw the tour in Orlando on New Years's Eve. I thought it was excellent. If the same leads are still in the tour, Rob Colletti does a fantastic job as Dewey. The kids are very talented. I had a great time. It sold really well in Orlando. The only negative was the old fart continuously kicking the back of my chair during Act 1. When I said something to him at intermission instead of apologizing he responded sarcastically. So I advised him that he didn't want to see me lose my temper...and at that point he quit. I had no further problems with him.
I saw the first stop, the cast was great but the physical material in my opinion was not good at all. I don't know how this sells, the audience LOVES it but it also isn't a very good show.

Rude theatergoers are the worst. After my experience at Les Miz the other night, I am hoping the SoR crowd is better behaved. Good to know that you enjoyed it. I haven't listened to the show at all yet.

The kids are fantastic, but I was bored whenever they weren't on stage.
However - it was definitely worth sitting through the boring (imo) parts to experience those crazy talented kids.
I saw the National Tour back in October when it came to Pittsburgh, had HUGE reservations about the show (just not my cup of tea) but went anyways buying a “cheap seat” in case I needed a quick escape route. Thoroughly enjoyed the show! Agree that Rob Colletti does a fantastic job as Dewey.

This was my assessment, too. It’s pleasant enough, but drags whenever the kids aren’t onstage. The kids, as has been said, are awesome.
My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."
I watched this over the weekend. It is a cute show and is in good shape and plays very close to the movie. Rob Coletti is great as is Lexi Dorsett Sharp and the rest of the cast. The kids were really amazing. I was definitely glad I just saw this show on tour and not on an NYC trip. That said, this show is not selling at all in Detroit. There is a truly embarrassing number of tickets still available for tomorrow and the rest of its run here. I don't know if its because the theater crowd thinks its just a kids show and is therefor uninterested or the venue and others are doing a terrible job at marketing. This is exactly the kind of show that should appeal to non traditional theatergoers and you would think they could move some tickets.
