As many of you probably know, I've constantly expressed some skepticism regarding Jack O'Brien's production CarouselSo with that starting previews tonight, I would really like to apologize for everything I've said. It was never my intention to annoy any of you.

While I am still skeptical, I'm at least be happy that they'll all be put to rest tonight no matter what happens during the first preview.

Why apologize for informed skepticism?

No matter how good or bad it is, I believe that another commercial revival of Carousel is needed about as much as another nail salon in NYC.

You are so right. 24 years between Broadway revivals is way too soon.

"You are so right. 24 years between Broadway revivals is way too soon."

Nothing to do with time; as pointed out in another thread, when this season ends, there will have been only two new musicals with completely original scores. The hoi polloi demand for the familiar and comfortable comes at a cost (a cost that, it seems, most people don't mind paying).

Just my opinion, but I would love to see Broadway play host to, nurture, and support much more new large scale work, and showcase revivals in limited runs at City Center, BAM, the Koch, and other nonprofit venues. But I know that'll never happen.

Actually, 61 years since the last commercial revival.

Well, now that Carousel has been in previews for almost a month, it looks like someone owes me an apology for all the flack I received whenever I brought up Jack O'Brien's recent track record.

I’m sure you’ve been thinking about this everyday and no, nobody owes you an apology. I, at least, never denied it, but the constant posting about it was annoying. But congratulations Jeffery, you were correct. Sadly, there is no prize.

I was thinking about you, Jeffrey, for the entirety of this sh!t production coming to light.

You were 100% right!

You may have been right, but that didn't make your incessant narrative any less annoying.

Jeffrey, how do you know you yourself didn't tarnish this production from the beginning? Maybe your constantly-voiced doubt itself made the company and creative team so nervous and everything fell to pieces thereafter. #BWWConspiracies

Didn't you say that no matter what happens you still apologize for annoying people with your incessant negativity about this production starting previews? I mean you ended up being right, but it was still annoying to see you post 5 times a day saying the same thing and responding to people who showed some excitement about the production before it actually came out which was what the apology was for. People shouldn't apologize for being more optimistic than you were, and if you're apologizing for being annoying, then why do you think the annoyed should be apologizing to you considering you admitted to annoying them?

As Elsa will be belting 150 years from now on the stage of the St. James Theatre, let it go, let it go.

What I'll personally never forgive you for Jeffrey, is that when I mentioned how stunning O'Brien's 1977 Porgy & Bess was, you retorted:
But that was over forty years ago.
Forty years ago was quite a time, Jeffrey.
Sorry you might have missed it.

No, you didn't even owe anyone the first one.  The posteres here (including you and including I) are just assholes.

How dare you, Jeffrey? We will only forgive you if you buy us all each a ticket to Carousel and a cup of coffee!

This cryptic thread makes me wonder what I have in store for me when I see it this weekend.
