I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this. I didn't think I could be a Buffett fan. The orchestrations are super fun and Paul Nolan has the voice of an angel! Has anyone else listened yet?

I'm genuinely torn. Some of the numbers are absolutely fantastic ("Fins," "Margaritaville," etc) but some just strike me as...way too sanitized/altered ("We Are the People Our Parents Warned Us About"
for my tastes (as a Buffett fan). I'm still curious to see this staged at the Marquis, but I have a more mixed opinion about the music right now.
Definitely agree that the orchestrations are a refreshing change from the typical Broadway fare, though.

Listening to this and most of this music is really unappealing to me. I suppose I might still see it, as I do like Christopher Ashley's work - but the score doesn't feel very theatrical to me.

After seeing the pre-bway run in Chicago...the staging does not help ANYTHING. I sat in amazement that this was the same team behind Come From Away.

I got through half of the album before having to turn it off and put on the real Jimmy. It was similar to hearing some Branson, MO non-equity review show. Beyond dreadful. I will have to cross this off of my list of shows to see on my next visit...

I gave this show a pass when it ran in Chicago. I might try the cast recording, but growing up with Buffet fans in the family, I got burned out on his music decades ago. The only song I ever really liked was Peanut Butter Conspiracy and it's not in the show.
I think it was a missed opportunity to not include a bonus track featuring jimmy.
Or...just listen to one of his albums instead.

Now I have to look up Peanut Butter Conspiracy.
My brother and I used to sing it when we were kids. And once you hear the song, you'll realize how hilarious and bizarre that is. LOL
